Neither console, PS3 or 360, has inferior hardware. As you can tell by the way games look and run on both consoles.
The only thing inferior was the way the 360 was put together.
It would be nice to see Diablo 3 reach the PS360 for the people without a Pc, but I for one could care less, since I'll be getting Diablo 3 for the Pc. And, also, I'll have Too Human, to play on the 360. =)
Actually, the 360 has the controller/keypad. So, I think that Diablo would work on the 360 better than the PS3. If you want to use straight keyboard and mouse, then why not get it for the Pc? With the 360 controller-pad you can still use every button on the pad, if they chose to do so, with the movement and attacks on the controller. Wouldn't be to hard to do.
And, before you say that not everyone has the controller-pad. Not every one has a computer and therefor not everyone has ...

No. The CGI trailer was not just for 'hype.' Sony lied about the graphics. And, they knew they would get caught, so they had to come out and tell the people that the game, and the PS3, could not achieve the 'life-like' graphics in the CGI trailer, in the real game.
Stop being cheap. $50 isn't that much. It's $50 for a YEAR. That's not a big deal.. at all. Do you pay for cell phones? Do you pay for satellite? Do you pay for Cable? Do you pay for gas, electric, internet, heat, water? If so, then stop crying. If not, then shut up.
Seriously, stop using that as a reason why xBox Live sucks.. People pay for all kinds of stuff. It's life. Not everything is free.

What you described sounds like what Sony did with KillZone 2. Except they used CGI to hype KillZone 2, because the PS3 really couldn't make KZ2 look that good.
