I think with the art direction it's very much like Okami, people were put off by the way it looked even before they'd played it. I guess with the normal graphical style of games people often go for photo realism, and anything different scares them. Prince of Persia can be looked at as a piece of very well done and interactive art.
I think with the demo you don't get to see enough of what the game has to offer. It's worth checking out if only to see the massive explosions.
Some of the comments here have been great, it's good to see that girl gamers are accepted and encouraged. I'll be writing some more articles about female gamers soon so keep an eye out for them.
Thanks for the support there, I felt the same way, project76dodo really confirmed that attitudes need to change, in a way he confirmed everything that I had written.
I am proud to be a gamer.
It's great though that you can play something together, I agree that it's a shame that a lot of girls only play casual games, but as DolphGB said in the full post the Wii generation may move onto more hardcore games eventually.
Exactly what I thought!
Thanks for the comment there, I fear that things won't change for women any time soon, it's great that more females are becoming gamers, but because the majority of them are on consoles like the Wii and the DS this sort of advertising doesn't affect them.
I will continue to buy games because I enjoy them.
@AclayPS3 I agree, more women need to be in the industry to change it. I'm fortunate in that I am able to write for a PS3 website and put across my opinions on games from a female perspective. I hope that through some of my work I am able to help support girl gamers, we often feel our voices aren't being heard.
It's good to have the support of other gamers.
To me though the advertising shouldn't be about whether there's a hot woman in it or not, I didn't buy Metal Gear 2 because there was a naked Raiden in it, I bought it because it was a great game. All that advertising this this says to me is that the advertiser doesn't have the creativity to advertise in a way that appeals to all, they just want to sell a game and they know that a bit of cleavage is a way to get sales.
Surely games should be played because they are good, not bec...
The funny thing is people complain that there aren't more girl gamers, is it any surprise when most adverts are either aimed at guys or in the case of the DS at 8 year old girls :)
I'm disappointed that Sony haven't given us any real surprises, it's still early in the week but I wanted something more to get excited about.
Heavy Rain video sounds like fun though.
I didn't find that I had motion sickness, although I did at times feel a bit of vertigo. I don't know that I would feel motion sickness from it though as I cope fine with fps games.
It does look like it'll be a fun game to play.
Moi?!
I do love my trophies!
