AC1 would be AMAZING if it wasnt so repetitive, but if they fix that then this game will be awesome
Like every little while new track types, new scenery props, new jumps and race modes. That would make it REALLY worth coming back to again and again to play and make tracks.

Not really. I mean, depends on the game, and whether the devs take full advantage of this setting. Killzone 2, for example, was amazing fun on elite because the AI was smart. But some games just give you less health and toss more enemies at you, making the game frustrating
Still, the sense of accomplishment after beating a game on its hardest setting is definitely something else :)
Of course it is a serious GOTY contender, nobody doubted that. But so is Uncharted, MAG , Modern Warfare 2 and many more.
...lots of competition for each game and platform is good for gamers :)
