That is what they say now. Wouldn't be the first title that will sell some type of "booster" after a while. Just need enough people complaining that the drop rates are not high enough or there is too much grind involved. As excuse we will hear the "Some people just don't have that much time to play the game but want to experience all content" excuse.
You can go through the main story without spending money without too much of a grind.

That is not wrong. I played through the whole story and did not have to spend money on the game.
You may need to grind a little bit to get to the next level that opens up the next quest. But if you complain about grinding in a Diablo game than you should not play it I guess.
I agree that Path of Exile is really good and is giving us new content regularly and you can't beat the price point, but I feel its not something you can casually jump in and out like Diablo. I find Grim Dawn is right in the middle where you can enjoy it casually or you go full blown number crunching elitist nerd.
