As with most modern electronic things like MP3 players, DVD-drives. Updating Natal's external chip will only require a slightly more complicated firmware update. It's do-able.
There's only one possible explanation why M$ threw out the external chip, its to lower the cost!
The website did all that fancy calculations to justify its logic but totally fails to appreciate there is a difference in the exchange rate between now and 3 years ago
It was 123 3 years ago, it dive to as low as 88 in Jan 09. Now is only 94
The exchange rate totally kills any incentive for Sony to cut the PS3 price.
I think the only way to stop these pointless blogs from anonymous sites is to have a "Disapprove" button next to the "Approve" button
Of course that will create a problem of "approve" and counter "disapprove" fanboys mini wars.
But assuming the majority of N4G users are reasonable, and set a ratio of "2 disapprove" can cancel out "1 approve" then, these pointless stories will have a much longer time showing ...
Those who would have already played it.
Being a PC/Console 360 exclusive doesn't change the fact that its a poorly executed average rating game.
There are better games to play on both system now.
“The second reason behind this choice is purely linked to production. Having a single target platform means that we can optimize the game even further, because we only have one type of - console - hardware to support.”
Sound like As if there is no PC Version...

360 doesn't have bump mapping.
Also the author of the article fails to mention that Quincunx AA is actually equivalent to 4xFSAA functionally, can be performed much faster than 4xFSAA but have have a slight blur minor problem.
2xFSAA does not perform similar to Quincunx AA.
I am not trying to be pessimistic here. Crytek are good developers but I am not sure they are the best. Yes, Crytek produces the best looking game Crysis on PC but you need a monster PC to run it. It's hard to judge their skill if the graphics card is so powerful.
If they could make a decent game based on Intel onboard graphics then I will be more impressed with their skills
And Sony has thousands of 1st part and 2nd party employees working on the PS3 and some of the...
Let me first say that i agree to your skepticism of Natal.
Back to pairing controller with the camera, please correct me if I am wrong, but i think the Microsoft's official response is to scan an object in your hand and the camera will track the object.
I have been searching for posts but Microsoft never say anything about pairing a controller with the camera. Although most people including you think this will be the case because it is a really logical thing to do. ...
I am really interested to know more about the controller patents argument.
Do you have any more information. Is there a website tracking these patents?
I really suspect Nintendo cannot add a camera for tracking because they don't hold a patent like Sony and Microsoft have. The Wiimote Plus sort of provide 1:1 tracking because there is a gyroscope inside the add-on like those used on airplanes.
But it will always have delay and really complicated movements will not rea...
To commodore64,
I remember the days when people just want a arcade replicate on their consoles. Getting the PS3 version is the only way to do that.
But fine by mine, if you buy the 360 version as the developer is still getting a sale. But by your logic, I guess you play games like Mass Effect, GTA4 only on your PC?
The graphical quality is at about the same level of GTA4, maybe slightly better.
Gameplay Mechanism is the same as previous titles such as Hulk.
Prototype really should be released last year.
Release after Infamous really makes Prototype looks bad in comparison especially when Infamous is getting some good marks in the reviews.
How many of you here knows the Tekken 6 arcade machine is actually a PS3. It has the same exact hardware, Cell SPU + SPE + the same Nvidia GPU.
The PS3 will have the same look and behave exactly the same as the arcade version, there is no porting. On the other hand, a rewrite of code may be necessary to get Tekken 6 to run on 360.
The PS3 version is preferred because it is the arcade version. The 360 version is the console version. If you like the arcade, you should...
To ChuBear,
Relax, I think Project Natal is actually a good thing for PS3, a blessing in disguise. As the article quote an analyst saying.
"Project Natal certainly does seem designed to out-casual the casual gaming genre Nintendo ushered in with the Wii, while Sony’s approach looks to be more “gamer-oriented,”
We know EyeToy game was a fad. There is very good chance Project Natal will just result in something very much like those EyeToy games. Micro...
But doesn't it mean anything that can emit infra red would cause interference to the IR camera? like a radiator, or just the sunshine through the windows?
Also, since it's not using sound wave which can scan multiple targets in a single sweep ( like a submarine ), it doesn't work like sonar, does it?
Someone suggests the infra-red emitter will blank out the entire room. That's true, but then how it's going to detect depth. The IR camera has the same limitation to the...

To Xi
That's the point I am talking about!!
I don't want to google it. I don't want to convince myself.
I want Microsoft to show it to me and convince me!!
Back to Infra-red emitter. OK. That could work.
But doesn't it mean anything that can emit infra red would cause interference to the IR camera? like a radiator, or just the sunshine through the windows?

For now, I only see an updated "Eye Toy" with dual cameras providing stereo vision to detect depth plus an Infra-red sensor to detect body heat so it won't lose the human body target.
A lot of people says Natal could track your whole body movement.
Microsoft implies Natal can do that but they never really say it.
It can track the head, body, and the limbs quicker and more accurately than the PS2 EyeToy. Not sure how it compares to the PS3 HD eyetoy th...
To Traveller.
Actually "GT5P outputs in 1080p" is technically correct because it is showing 1080 lines in progressive scan mode.
The problem is the horizontal resolution does not equal to 1920, it's only 1280x1080 and horizontally up-scaled to produce the final picture.
Luckily the human eye is much more sensitive to the vertical resolution than the horizontal resolution. That's why GT5P looks so stunning even it cheated.
GT5P stil...
That's why Metal Gear Solid 5 is on PSP.
DS may capture the females and the elderly.
but PSP is the most popular platform for males between 10 to 30 in Japan.
If you have read a copy of Japanese Famitsu recently, you would find that there are a lot more coverage about PSP games than DS games.
