Honestly, I'm thinking it stands a chance of being the best in the series.
I think they're fine for cosmetics, but some companies are REALLY going overboard with the stuff.

Frostbite makes sense as a studio-wide mandate though. It's easier to document changes and if one team develops new upgrades to the engine, like the multiplayer support as their reason to getting rid of Eclipse, it can be shared between the different studios easier.
