Thats actually the smartest decision they have made this generation. Minecraft as an IP is worth more than Gears, Forza, and Halo combined in potential revenue.

Thats definitely true however, compare the sales of Sony Exclusives to Xbox exclusives. For whatever reason, Sony has a more diverse catalog of games that are supported well by their community. This generation, not even the established franchise shooters like Halo 5 and Gears 4 sold anywhere near as well as their predecessors. And pretty much all of Microsoft's attempts at a new IP this gen have fallen flat.
