Both Blu-Ray and HD-DVD (Both meaining both) use Microsoft's VC1 Codec at the same bitrate. Thats like saying the colors of my pictures look better when stored on a Hitachi HD compared to a Seagate! Absolute Nonsense! The only difference is some HD-DVD movies don't use lossless audio... Which of course wouldn't effect the frames of the movie....

Never said the Xbox1 was more of a media powerhouse than the PS3. But it was much more capable system than the PS2... Please READ my comments...

I was illustrating the fact the the XBOX1 was a much more capable system (with networking, a Hardrive, etc...) compared to the PS2. Yet the PS2 outsold it by a large margin...

Lets review.

The Game boy(black and white) was significantly worse than the Game Gear, and Turbo Express... Yet it blew them out of the water sales wise.

The Game Boy Advanced blew the Neo Geo out of the water.

The DS is whooping the PSP.

The NES(16 Colors 1.79 MHZ) Beat the Sega Master system (32/64 Colors 3.57Mhz)

The PS2 out sold the Xbox though the Xbox was significantly more powerful.

XBOX360 AND HI-DEFINTION
You do realize that on a video game console the "Hi-Definition" images are RENDERED from the CPU & GPU not streamed from the disk.

By your logic warhawk must be the worst resolution ever because it's downloadable and there isnt a blu-ray or HD-dvd (or DVD-9 for that matter)

It's the Processors that draw the HD picture NOT the disk!

Secondly:
Blu-ray and HD-DVD are not needed for HD video....

I have a problem with theese reviews that break down their score by catagories and then the "Overall Score" isn't any where near an average.

I don't understand how he can give halo 3 an 8.0/10 when, according to his own breakdown;
Sound: 9.0
Graphics: 8.2
Gameplay: 9.2
Originality: 8.5
Longevity: 9.5

That makes the average an 8.9/10

XBOX 360----------
Number to titles with average scores equal to or above:
80%: 57
85%: 19
90%: 9
Exculsives over 90%: 7

Playstation 3----------
Number to titles with average scores equal to or above:
80%: 17
85%: 5
90%: 1
Exculsives over 90%: 0

SO the Xbox 360 has 335% more "B" titles. 380% More "B+...

Also the graphics in split-screen are, of course, wors that in single player.. Why, well if in single player mode you have a game doing the best it can graphically(near the limit of what the engine will do) now you want it to do twice as much? Not going to happen. Something will have to drop.

Some points:
1: Storage media or capacity has little (or nothing) to do with the quality of on screen graphics. Any one from the PC world knows this. If you cant play oblivion at highest quality it is NOT because of your Hard-drive or CD-Drive. It because of your GPU.

2: Graphics are a trade off. ALWAYS. Ther isn't an INFINATE amount of processing power available (Not even on the PS3)

The problem is that with theese xx/10 scores were used to 5/10 being an F, 6/10 being a D and so on. We don't think of an average game being a 5. We usually assume a 7 to be average. IF 7 is the "average" then that doesn leave much room to differentiate between games. So when a game is way above average (yet not perfect) it's gotta get a 9 or higher

Think about it, when was the last time a better than average game got a 6?

I don't want to question you because you probably know more about this subject than I. However I think we can agree that in a game such as PGR The entire track's data (all Textures, wireframes, etc...) must be loaded into memory. This loaded data cannot possibly exceed 512 MB per track (as there are no loading screens during a race)

Now I am also making the assumprion that any compressed JPEG data is Decompressed to bitmaps(I don't mean MS BMP format I mean raw byte arrays)...

I have looked aorund at the specs. Yes both systems do have 512 MB of ram. However My Understanding is that all (or any portion thereof) of the xbox's 512 MB is directly available to the GPU.(though this probaly wont vary much beyond 50/50 as the CPU needs memory too)

As stated above the xbox360 has 512 MB of texture memory. The PS3-as I understand- Has only 256MB of texture memory. To me that is a MUCH bigger issue that the total storage space. Storage space aloows for more leves characters etc... (assuming it's even needed) But video memory means that every frame of every animation has to fit in less space...

So given the above example the same track on a PS3 could only have 256MB worth of tectures. Half as much, so thats half as muc...

OK. Lets look at the numbers (as best as I understand them) The xbox360 has 512MB(0.5 GB) of texture memory SO at any given time it can hold 512MB of uncomressed textures in memory for video processing. (I am assuming that the system doesn't de-compress textures on the fly as that would use up too much processing power while you are playing. It only would decompress during load times)

Actually GOW looks more "photo-realistic" and has more details. Yes UT3 is more colorful, but thats mostly an art direction issue.

But as someone else here stated, This isn't really fair, because GOW has a much shorter draw distance, (generally close quarters combat) you really are never looking across huge amounts of terain like in UT3, which will effect the amount of detail on any particular object.
