Google is free. Facebook is free. Twitter is free. Pretty good company if it's true you get what you pay for. You get market leadership.

Enjoy paying for access to the free apps above. If your over 18. If your under 18 your not allowed to access them even though your paying for it. PSN is free so your never have to worry about that.

The quote that is talking about the dedicated servers you can set up in your own living room.

But hey if you won't believe me maybe you will believe SONY and everyone else that also knows what they are talking about. Everyone except you.

Your the one that can't read or comprehend. Your just parroting. The only person that changed the subject was you. Flip flopping between company hosted and dedicated servers as if they meant the same thing.

And you still haven't explained the differences .. because once again you don't know what your talking about. So you can't. Those who can do. Those who can't pretend.

"In addition to players being able to host THEIR own servers, 32-player “DEDICATED” servers ...

LMAO. You still don't get it.

What you see there is a cluster of dedicated servers. Each dedicated server is hosting ONE game with up a max of 32 players. People play in one game at a time.

Those are the official dedicated servers .. IOW the dedicated servers that aren't running from peoples living rooms and are considered to be unofficial.

The bandwidth your so infatuated with is so they can have MULTIPLE dedicated servers hosting MULTIPLE games from th...

Keep talking. Just be aware that like the guy in the article you don't understand what your talking about in regards to P2P and dedicated servers.

If you did you wouldn't have made the statements you did. Anything can be a dedicated server. Anything. Even an iPhone could be run as a dedicated server for other iPhone games. It has nothing to do with horsepower. Maybe when you understand why that is you should speak again on the subject of dedicated servers. Otherwise your just b...

I guess a group of someones out there doesn't like people stating facts about PSN and XBL.

And certainly don't want the question answered to it's logical conclusion.

Edit: Hmm now they are back. Weird. Take it back.

You make some credible points. However your references to back them up aren't credible.

All those sites have been bashing Sony, PS3, PSP in a non-stop fashion while pretty much giving MS, 360, Zune a free pass for years now. It's pretty safe to say at this point they are getting major investments from MS OR from their principal shareholders that have billions in their own private investment firms.

You would be better served by using your own logic rather than MS sh...

Dude YOUR the one that started with the stupid it's a worthless cardboard box because it's free argument. You. Not me. I never said you shouldn't pay for something you want to pay for. Never. Just how stupid your argument was when your paying to access free apps while also claiming free equals cardboard box status.

PSN has lots of features XBL doesn't so don't pull the crap you get what you pay for again because it isn't true. You get 16 player games. I've been playing 40 playe...

I was responding to your dumb statements. If you don't have something intelligent to say then better to keep quiet next time. Especially when you don't know what your talking about.

I video chat with people over PSN. Several people at the same time in fact. You could be seeing those friends and not just talking to them. For free.

I can also do group chats. And soon cross-game chat.

Remember YOUR the one that made the dumb you get what you pay for free st...

@shikwan

Fact. I play against people from Japan, Europe all the time on Warhawk. So I'm not sure what your talking about for region locking players. That's not true.

Fact. Sony provides real dedicated servers. MS doesn't. That's what the "rant" is about. Everyone you listed is a 3rd party and not MS. Despite them charging money for gaming on-line on the purchase of a gaming console. And even then they aren't real dedicated servers like PSN.

Because PAYING to access those "you get what your pay for free" services like Twitter, Facebook is smarter. LOL. Man the bulb intensity of some arguments on here is priceless.

Google is free. Facebook is free. Twitter is free. PSN is free. All market leaders. LOL. Xbox Live. Laggard.

It must hurt that a free service outperforms a paid service. 16 players from MS vs 256 players from Sony. Live an order of magnitude behind after a 5 year lead. Man you have to...

It's $4/month for each family member.

Which is $16/month or $192/year or $960/5 years for the average family.

Or you can buy 3 PS3 slims instead. Or 5 360 Arcade systems.

Of course with the 3 PS3 route you still get to play on-line for free with 32, 64 and 256 players on the same map. And 3 top Blu-ray players.

The 360 route you can play with yourself and watch DVD.

It was the loss of the weapon wheel. Resistance replay value was so much higher and fun because of it. I had no desire to replay the campaign in R2.

1. Controllers are a user preference. Have nothing to do with Live or PSN

2. There might be more 360's in American homes but that is only part of the equation. More people will join something that is free vs pay. Think Facebook would have as many users if it was $50/year? Of course not. The network effect would be significantly constrained compared to it being free. So you need to rethink some assumptions.

3. Download speed is a function of too many things to say on...

I would if it was free. However for us and our kids we would be $200 every year not $50. And that would be every year.

As someone else said it's kind of hard to justify that for games that seem to max out at 16 players when you are now used to 24, 32 and 64 player games. Actually paying money to take a step down seems silly.

The same goes for people on XBL in regards to features .. except they don't have to pay for PSN so it's not actually an issue in the end.

@catguykyou

Dude just stop.

PSN supports P2P, player hosted servers just like XBL and in ADDITION fully dedicated servers on YOUR console. Good luck trying to find that capability on the 360.

PSN developers actually have more choices running on the PS3. Also developers don't pay a licensing fees per "dedicated" server on PSN. Something that is required on XBL because the server isn't running on a players machine anymore and therefore can't use ...

Part of the problem is people are talking about different things when they talk about "dedicated" servers and it's leading to all sorts of confusion.

Having a dedicated physical box is just HALF of the equation. Having dedicated server software is the other half required for a FULL dedicated server.

The fact is FULL dedicated servers are more reliable, have less lag and can support more players than their counterparts because that's what they were designed...
