Yes, I agonized over this decision as well.
Plain and simple, "graphics" is a shallow category.

Visuals are merely a tool. Red Steel 2 developers had a great tool, but they squandered it. The graphics were indeed pretty. However, the visuals enhanced neither level design nor artistic integrity.

Sorry, but they're all linked. The graphics are only impressive for about 30 minutes. Then, as you wander from one quadrilateral plane to another, you'll disco...

Ultimately, just like my review states, the numerical value assigned to the game does not necessarily reflect its quality. At all.

Read the review before getting too upset.

"Another joke gaming site"

Do you see a lot of job openings for gaming journalists? If you have some inside knowledge of the biz, then by all means, share. No? I didn't think so.

People who want to write about games are fortunate to have people with web design know-how; it provides an adequate public outlet.

Jerk.

There's nothing positive about this game. Even the process of "winning," (successfully killing aliens) results in file loss.

I'm glad you recommended that I check out your blog. Very interesting read. Keep it up; you're not such a bad writer yourself.

That's the thing. Some people (like you) had no problem, but others (I can only assume) did. It was a glaring issue for me, but that's because I'm a control freak. Part of it had to do with being able to trust it. It was just too darn inconsistent and wibbly wobbly.

Thanks! I wrote the poem a few years back in college. Last night I added the report portion and thought I'd weasel it onto N4G.

Wow, very detailed supplementary information!

Saaking, did you read the blog? According to it, the irreverent whining like yours is "ruining" gaming.

Yikes; I'm behind the curve.

I respectfully disagree with aspects of your disagreement. 7.5 isn't a terrible score. 1943 is a good game; I just wouldn't go so far as to call it "awesome."

Remember, it's a ten point scale; it could go sooo much lower.

Dammit. Once again, I've posted in a very old forum. No one will see anecdote.

When I see it in forum posts, I think of Homer Simpson when he went computer shopping:

"So, this is the best computer now and always will be?"

"Oh yeah. Always."

I also think of Hitler's "superior" race. It just sounds dubious.

I don't think your views are exclusive to the UK. Sony's making some very consumer friendly moves. But it's neat to know that the buzz just isn't only here in the good ole USA. The more competition, the faster Nintendo could get off their fanny.

I just realized that the last comment before mine was two months ago. It appears I am late to the party as well.

I actually agree with Tachyon. Overall, Drake is a very pretty game; however, textures can look pretty muddy depending on the surface. Time is the ultimate test of a game's visual punch. A game like ICO (PS2) still holds up pretty well. On the other hand, Oblivion's outdoor environments look positively godawful on any platform.

Japanese developers have also had a rich history of coming up with some pretty off the wall and flat out regurgitated stories. Final Fantasy or Katamari, anyone?

Furthermore, American developers (most notably those with Microsoft and Bethesda) have been at the forefront of not just telling engaging stories but allowing the players to determine the flow of the story for themselves.

Nevertheless, to be perfectly fair, your in depth analysis of Metal Gear lore is impre...

I definitely agree with your assessment of L4D's single player offering and graphics. Offline players shouldn't even give it a glance apart from maybe a rental. And the graphics appeared slightly dated even upon the game's release.
A few years back I would have thought that the market for such an exclusively online game would have been small. Given the millions of copies they've sold, perhaps times are just a changing.
Since I'm not much of a PC gamer, I have ...
