Even though they are competitors, I don't think microsoft is happy about the breach. Hypothetically speaking, If Sony goes under and only MS is left. The gamers suffer because without competition you get crap. IE: Madden football. Competition is good. Keeps companies on their toes and breeds innovation which is great for the gamers.
