The article opens by discussing what happened to cable TV and how eventually everyone has moved to streaming services like Netflix, Prime Video, and Disney+.

The same could happen for gaming. Google Stadia may not be a major contender as they are known to ditch new projects all the time. However, Microsoft is really going hard on Xbox Game Pass, especially with the acquisition of Zenimax Studios, putting developers like Bethesda under their 1st party studio wing. Microsoft&...

Discord would be a cool addition. Sony does need to come up with some kind of streaming integration too.

Yeah, I do the same thing with my buddy. He buys all the sports games and I pick up the FPS/RPG titles.

Yeah, by something so simple as checking the page source code. Pretty amateur.

I'm pretty stoked about the Insomniac acquisition. Although it's no where near the size of the Zenimax Media buyout by Microsoft.

I'd love to see Legend of Dragon, Socom, or Syphon Filter make a return. Resistance would probably be best by Insomniac Games, which Sony owns now.

Valid argument

That is a good alternative. Just setup new studios and reshuffle veterans from their existing studios to work on new IPs

Yeah, both FromSoftware and WB Games were pretty far stretches, but never know. I mean, no one expected the Microsoft buyout of Zenimax.

I think Bluepoint should be a given though. They’ve shown they are pretty talented developers handing several of Sony’s IPs.

This was a huge announcement and will likely boost Xbox Series sales. They'll have control over a lot of franchises going forward. It'll be interesting to see which ones they'll allow to be multiplatform and which ones will become exclusive.

It's honestly not a bad strategy. If I owned an Xbox, I'd probably sign up for Xbox Game Pass.

Upfront, yes. But the article argues that in the long run, they actually may be more expensive as you're limited to buying your games via the online marketplaces. As the article points out, there are games on the marketplace that are four years old and still retailing for $59.99, whereas their counterparts used at Gamestop are only $4.99.

If you buy a disc-based console then you can borrow games from friends, rent games, trade games, or buy used copies from places like ...

It's not really a launch game. Gears Tactics is already out on Xbox One and PC.

I'm still going to hold out for a special edition version of the PS5.

That's fine. I plan on buying it for PS5 anyways.

The Dreamcast was one of my favorite consoles back in the day

Demon's Souls is the game I'm looking forward to the most. It seems like Microsoft is heavily relying on multi-platform support and features like Xbox Game Pass to carry them until they can release more exclusives. Down the line, they'll have Halo Infinite (cross-gen) and titles like Fable, Avowed, and Forza Motorsport. Right now though, their exclusives launch line-up is pretty sparse.

Looks fairly priced. I think many people are going to opt for a PS5.
