Eh? How many American developers code their titles exclusively for Xbox? Your wish is already fullfilled, Japanese developers already make almost all exclusive titles for PS2.

The original was crap for 360 and the sequel would probably have been similar on the PS3, all that happens now is more people can buy crap... woo.

I love my 360 but this is not anything worth jumping around about, I doubt it will be a stellar title.

There are a few points to make, this was in development before the Eyetoy came around but that doesn't mean it hasn't taken inspiration from Sony- Microsoft also had inertial controllers for a long time but didn't incorporate them into the 360. This is clearly a responce to Sony's move.

That doesn't mean it won't be better, the applications I have seen so far have looked very impressive and the quality is good- Microsoft make brilliant peripherals, you have to give them that. ...

I am a full time Linux user and it isn't great for homebrew, it's all homebrew pretty much but the environment isn't better, Linux developers don't like not having the features of MS's tools at their disposal, we request it all the time and try to mimic it with apps like Kdevelop but it isn't great for making games- hell look at the games available for Linux, there are about three from linuxgamepublishing.com which are impressive everything else is awful to use, especially because of no Direc...

The Wii sells itself when it comes to marketting and whilst Nintendo's name has weakened in the past decade it still has punch- my 48 year old mother bought a Nintendo DS yesterday solely for the brain trainer game.

Nintendo needs good games that really utilise the system's capabilities, at the moment it's not quite there, Mario Galaxy looks ok but could *mainly* be done using a standard controller and games like Red Steel won't have huge pulling power unless seen.

I've never really been fond of the EU but that case is ridiculous, they're just attacking MS and hoping people will support it.
My Linux distro comes with 5 media players in the default install and has numerous available on the repos but RealPlayer is hard to get in comparison.
Apple bundle Quicktime and Itunes (and have vendor lockin with Itunes)- but does the EU care? No.

Bias idiots.

I don't dislike MS but I don't use Windows, I am a Linux fan ans stereotypically we Linux users have a thing against the big M, but a lot of that article is poorly made.

1- Microsoft IS very innovative- the company that claims innovation falsely is Apple. Microsoft is being praised by many KDE developers for their recent tech previews (screens like those in Minority Report, Revolutionary new Photo tool demoed a few days ago- it was amazingly innovative). The ideas Microsoft doe...

They aren't against MS, they just love to flex their muscles when it comes to the space of Bluray, they can say the footage on a BD disc is "less compressed" which is true.. sorta that doesn't mean it is better though.

It will all be used for hyperbole, Sony isn't a huge fan of the MPEG group either, and the building of Bluray players still gets MS money for the decoder required in every BR device (IIRC).

Sony Movie Studios is not against MS at all, the...

However much you like/dislike the format you cannot deny that this sort of launch was inevitable, who would rush out to get an expensive unit at the start of a format war when a $600 unit arrives in less than 5 months?

I personally don't think much of Bluray but the situation will get better for it, it may slump again later but this is nothing for Sony & Co to worry about.

Console games are good because the developer can utilise a lot of the machines power- this is good for gamers but no game ever uses 100% of a systems potential power, we won't see the PS3 or Xbox360 "maxed out"- it's far too difficult to obtain 100%- a lot of games use 60-70%, some maybe get to about 80% (the GT games, Forza titles, Halo2 etc).

So yes this is a great thing for any (future) PS3 owner but there's no reason to not believe that the Xbox 360 couldn't do it...

Yes but game journalism now is getting worse by the year.

For gods sake a 6 year old could pick apart your argument.

Let's look at some facts:-

The 360 has been designed with a high speed DVD-ROM drive- with high enough speed to take a lot of compressed files in a small loading time and put them all to good use.

Now that isn't a great point I'll admit however, technology moves in more than one direction- some people work on making games smaller whilst others work on making the discs bigger.

Bladestar-

I had a similar experience the other day, I was amazed, I really expected a lot of people to know of S3 and Bluray due to the excessive Hyperbole Sony likes to use but many didn't want PS3s this time around and only knew about HDDVD- I thought it was an anomaly.

I merely mentioned the next Pro Evo game coming to the 360 and may decided they wanted one there and then- which is pretty impressive, anybody who wants to even the score a little should advert...

WHy bother coming to this area? You won't change our opinions and we can't make you see sense.

The struggling company is Sony they're in the red and have been for nearly a decade, they are taking loans from the bank, they're losing the people responsible for their success (advertising, game rights etc) and you think that Microsoft who are meeting their goals are doing poorly?

You ever studied marketting (are you even old enough?), I suggest you do before you try and ...

You forget Apple was nowhere near the first to do any of those things.

Just as an example- Archos, the first company to do a lot of things in this space has the AV500 that has 100GB, Video, 4" Screen, Direct encoding etc and the PMA430 with PDA built in... Apple don't offer anything particuarly special at the moment other than th accessories, which I agree is very hard to beat, but MS has contacted the manufacturers of these things and is getting them on board.

Size of disc in this case won't be changing much of the ability, it's a poor decision on which codec to use mainly. Although thats subjective.

What magical thing would the Bluray machine achieve with the extra space- better quality perhaps but they don't need it, they could use VC1 too and get a better colour range (so the extra space is pretty useless for films, games etc)

Bluray isn't the only one capable of 1080p that's just showing your ignorance, in fact if ...

You could go look for yourself before making such remarks you may regret. At present the picture on HDDVDs should be better than Bluray so his statement was stable.

They both support high enough resolutions and have high enough storage capability to do what they're designed for- the comparison of iHD and BDJava is a null point IMO- iHD has almost exactly the same potential, Hollywood just seems to like backing Bluray for it's anti-consmer protection schemes. I agree though, they have kissed plenty of ass and it will definitely pay off giving this format a real chance, however it always comes down to the consumer decision, UMD did have decent support too....

I agree the Xbox360 titles have been a little underwhelming but only select screens from what I have seen have justified a claim that the PS3 is more powerful, I am sure some developer will get a lot of good out of it, but costs and effort would be greatly increased with the Cell.

The visual quality of PS2 titles was pretty poor at the start and saw a boost once the other consoles launched, it always seems to be the case that in these wars you don't get an answer till the end. ...

Whilst I agree Toshiba do not make the best HDMI products (that truly is one of Sony's great talents) that doesn't mean the format is poor, just one machine, other manufacturers are available and who knows- with Ricohs new tech it may be even better for movie enthusiasts in the near future.

I must point out though that a detailed look at the HDDVD specs shows that more features are STANDARD in the players, e.g. the ethernet jack, dual tuners etc which means that the features ca...
