Amazing how much progress MS has made in their drivers and development tools. Since the XBox One was not going to be released until late 2014, MS was severely handicapped with the developer tools that it had on hand for release. MS is FINALLY starting to get the tools updated and into the developers hands. 1080P and 60FPS is a big jump for the XBox One with this kind of texture rendering. Glad to see it.
Someone turns off the lights and it's BAD resolution!
SONY Games Division lost -$102 million US dollars in the past three months and had 68% more in sales over the previous year's 4th quarter. The Games Division was profitable the quarter before, making +$175 million in profits. 2013 Q2 loss -$8 million. 2013 first quarter loss -$149 million. For the year, the Games Division had a -$78 million US dollar loss. Because the Japanese currency, the Yen was so weak this year, SONY made 22% more profit on the sales of PS4 and PS3 which helped to k...
Who pays $60 for a gold card? I bought 3 years for $90. Just look for sales online.
8 x 1.6GHz. WTH? It's 1.6GHz clock rate for the APU. What the 8 has to do with anything, I have NO IDEA.
Oh, I finally got it. 8 (kinda) CORES running at 1.6GHz base clock speed. I thought it was 1.8GHz base clock speed? Heat issues I guess.
Cripes, a "genius". Take the video output and put it into the video input of the HDMI cable. Take the sound and put it onto the HDMI sound inputs. I am surprised a chip was even needed unless the sound was mono.
690 degrees? Really? This should be in the 10,000 degree range considering the number of comments. How DOES N4G pick these degree numbers? PFTA?
About half of the consoles sold were bundled with the PS4 camera. Why? Is there any use for it yet? Like Skype for the PS4?
This is complete troll bait. These must be the only MMOs the author has ever even played. Obviously he did not go and download any MMOs from Japan or Korea which have some real stinkers in there.
Picking on WoW, the MOST SUCCESSFUL COMPUTER GAME IN HISTORY was just over the top. Give this article a miss.
SONY should be decreasing the price of the PS4. Right now the Yen is weak and SONY is making 33% more profit per console sold (outside of Japan that is, which is why Japan was the last place to launch). That give SONY the ability to drop the price considerably. Of course, SONY is losing over a billion dollars this year so they could use all the money they can get...
SONY as a company in Japan is not doing well. Very few shops carry any SONY TVs, cameras, phones, or other electronics any more. The Japanese people are upset on how one of their premier national companies could lose so much money and lay off so many workers in recent years. It is an embarrassment to them. Some of that may be rubbing off onto the PS4. I am not surprised that this attitude might affect sales. the other thing is that Japan is having serious issues with their economy (like every...
Here is the financials from last quarter 2013-12-31. Both SONY and MS games divisions are about 15% of the company's total revenue. Last quarter, SONY's game division made $4.2 billion, with profit of $175 million. MS games division had $4.7 billion and a profit of $411 million.
Unfortunately, SONY admitted to making this this small profit solely due to the very weak Yen which increased their profits by 33%. The weak Yen also turned Japans $620 billion yearly surplus ...
SONY mobile (phone) division is doing badly. Last quarter, it lost $120 million dollars even with the weak Yen to help boost profits. SONY is still nursing this division tho as it grew 44% from 2012.
Oops, SOY semiconductor business lost the MOST amount of money out of any division last quarter and the division shrunk in sales from last year. This is with the 33% weakened yen to boost exports. No, semiconductors is not doing well. Whatever SONY patent portfolio is, it is certainly not helping the company much.
Time for some real numbers for SONY:

This is their last quarterly earnings report.
$257 million in profits from $23 billion in sales. 1% Return on Sales. The little profit may sound good but SONY exports most of their sales overseas. Since the Yen has weakened by 33%, that inflates the sales figure by about a third. Semiconductors lost a ton, so did ...
SONY is not a popular name in Japan any more. Besides making expensive products, the Japanese are angry how SONY could lose billions of dollars and lay off so many people. SONY is no longer a source of pride:

Funny thing is that the SONY brand has been not doing well in Japan in general. Their TVs had so few sales that most smaller retailers had none in their stores. The same with cameras and other electronics.

I doubt this will happen to the PS4 but don't expect millions sold...

Whatever you say about MS "doing it all wrong", it does not seem to have affected their revenue or profits, beating SONY in both. Add the fact that SONY is expecting a billion dollar loss thi...
From the PS4 site. No bias here. BTW, who gets to set the "heat" meter on N4G?
