This is a pretty good point but I do believe this move can help boost a lot of sales, especially in the US. Like you said however, a lot of damage has been done, damage that they may never recover from.

It's pretty obvious that the xone will pick up in sales now that the price has dropped, especially in the US.

I find it extremely laughable that this author is tooting his horn as if he predicted something that every single other gamer didn't see from a mile away.

This article is beyond dumb. I won't say just yet that the ps will loose america, because this time sony is in a much better position with a more powerful system and amazing first part...

"Microsoft still nearly pulled even with Sony over the last few months (according to NPD numbers)."

Wasn't the ps4 outselling the xbox one 2:1 in the US for the past couple of months according to NPD? I could be wrong on this.

Does this quote seem familiar to you: "I know a lot of hardcore fans including myself who actually find kinect very appealing but why should the focus of this E3 be centered on kinect? MS wasnt focused on kinect last E3 either. I dont see MS taking kinect out of the box either..they will rather swallow the cost and keep the device bundled in".

It should, you made it.

What did you expect them to do? The reality is poeple who were saying that the xbox was selling well enough for microsoft and that they were happy with their sales were living in freaking denial.

If they were happy with their sales there is no way they would have removed the kinect. The fact that they are getting raped in sales means they had to make a desperate move. there is nothing else they could have done to help boost sales, nothing.

The sad part about...

Yes, yes it is. Now here is the bigger kicker. All the xbox fans that were saying that they got the xbox because of the kinect and saying that because every xbox came with a kinect it ensured that devs would utilize it to the fullest unlike the ps camera that had no future because it was optional, what will they say about the future of the kinect now? And do they still think that it is integral to the system?

Thank you. And herein lies the problem of online only games. The sad part is this seems to be a growing trend now, creating games and focusing on the online aspects.

Again, this is why we cannot have a digital only future, why we need to continue having games that do not depend on online servers to work.

Recently we lost one of the best online games in my opinion, resistance 2 8 player co-op mode, when sony shut down the servers. Those are experiences we'...

100% agree. I will go further and say that the day they take away my options is the day I quit gaming. I will never support all digital. That's basically handing them a pair of steel tipped boots and telling them to kick me in the groin because that's exactly what they are gonna do.

@Baka-akaB

It's not about trading and reselling, it's about owning what you bought. Regardless of how you look at it regardless of which service you own, whether it's xbox live, psn or even steam, you do not own digital downloads.

I still have ps2 games today that I can go and stick in my ps2 and play, I still do actually with the silent hill series (one of my favorite series).

The day steam goes out of service is the day ALL stea...

@egidem

Very very true. Not only that, but the reality is an all digital world would mean an all DRM world and we all know that that is exactly what EA wants.

Let's not pretend we've forgotten that they were the main supporters behind microsoft's original "dream" for the xbox one.

I've said it before and i'll say it again, we need to not support an all digital drive. The day that happens we will all loose our ...

Honestly, I don't even expect to see that happening next gen either. This is not about the hardware tech, it's about the world internet tech. I really don't see internet around the world improving to that great of an extent.

In fact, if this net neutrality thing doesn't change, it would probably get even worse. At that point people will be counting kb's and wouldn't want any unnecessary traffic on their internet connections.

That has absolutely nothing to do with the game's fun factor. Whether or not you are should have no bearing on your decision to buy this game. Simply put, the game is a master piece.

"One thing I strongly disagree with is Sony's policy that you have to be a PSN+ member to retain your "free" games".

And yet i'm sure you have absolutely no issues with netflix or hulu doing this even though it's the same exact model except it's for movies.

Secondly, you cannot compare this to movies and music. You can buy digital music for 99 cents or a new digital movie for 15 bucks. A digital game costs sixty-freaking-do...
