It seems to me that it always 6/10 (immediately considered low) or 9/10, anything between that seems to be shrouded in some kind of 'meh' feeling. If I compare Skyrim to Morrowind I would personally think of a 8. What's wrong with that? 8 means: well done!

I don't know. I think your review is well-written and at least it is finally a terribly long one unlike most of Skyrim reviews, but I think nowadays certain games are too easily granted high scores without comparison to how games used to be in the past. Many people (not you) are just blinded by the way graphics are nowadays. I at least expected that they would care more about profound gameplay issues, one of my big disappointments with the direction the industry is heading that games only...
Let us just conclude that N4G is full of idiots: luckily there are always exceptions

It's exactly part of what makes this game one big bottle of fresh milk. They do not even care anymore, they do not look closely at their design just because it's not necessary to be succesful in making those maps in order to sell copies

I definitely remember that name. I would not directly say it is a positive association, but at least they had some very good ideas back in 2008.
I do not know if I really care... this Alan Wake game is not what many PC gamers expected of it, it is terribly dumbed down and maybe even just an average game.
But after all it's Remedy, so it should be worth bothering in any case. I'll play it anyway.
