The game looks great, though I'm interested to see some more colorful environments. So far all the screens I've seen, show a rather dreary overcast atmosphere with muted colors.
What makes something next gen to the people on this site is really subjective. Anything that has better graphics than the last gen of consoles is next gen to me. Killzone 2 is only different by its amazing visuals, not by its gameplay.
Not as into Rts as I used to be, but Ensemble usually makes some pretty decent games.
edit: I mean Ensemble used to make pretty decent games.
I heard there were some problems with this game. Was that just a load of BS?
As far as having to swap discs I don't think it's a huge issue. If having to use multiple discs causes problems in the game itself, then it is a problem.
Have you played any of the games they've put out this gen? Granted they're not Final Fantasy caliber, but very few games are. If you have played these games, calling them crap must just mean you have extremely high standards. They're not the best games, but I've seen and played far worse.
BTW: The World Ends With You is a SE game, and scored quite well. Or do only 360 games count?
I too was extremely excited for it as it was being developed by level 5. After seeing the game in action though, I must say i was quite disappointed. I will likely still play this when it comes out, but I probably won't buy it.
Lately WRPGs have interested me a lot more than JRPGs, so I'm not feeling too left out. I usually only play Jrpgs for their story and characters; not for the gameplay. I like the control that most western rpgs give to the player more than the strict linearity of most jrpgs.
If you look at sales data, jrpgs are pulling in a lot less revenue than wrpgs, so that's probably a big reason there aren't more of them being developed.
170,000 units for SO4 is more than 10% of all 360 owners in japan. Just putting it into perspective.
edit: @above
I agree. I see the difference being similar to that of the genesis and snes.
Believe it or not, not everyone who owns a 360 or ps3 has a high speed internet connection.
I had half of those games, and I agree that Shenmue should be on there. It was such a groundbreaking innovative game in so many respects. It pretty much introduced modern QTEs, though they were well placed in that game. In fact the term QTE itself originated with Shenmue.
Awesome links. Those videos blew me away.
Coming from Team Ico it's probably not going to be SoTC 2. Remember, all the colossi are dead. I have a strong feeling it will share the same visual aesthetic as Ico and SoTC, but have an entirely unique gameplay element.
When we get dlc this awesome how can it not sell? People who hated GTAIV need not apply.
Xbox live may be slightly better, but like so many have said before me, PSN is free..
The game will shift units for 360 in areas other than japan. Count on it.
They loves their Resident Evil.
Well this probably means that Bioware will probably be developing on the PS3 from here on out. Is Dragon Age still slated to release on all platforms?
You don't have to pay for live if you don't want to. I never did. Also I don't think you need a hard drive as there are memory cards. So I guess whatever the cost of a memory card and some batteries on top of $199.
