I'm pretty sure you can't use the word 'exclusive' when a game has been on another platform for almost two years now.
Steam does stop pirates. It stops them by making the act of buying the legit game a better experience (online features, achievements, friends list, in game interface, weekly deals, etc.) than the pirated version.

Way to miss the point. It is actually explained in the article. If I didn't buy it because of the stupid DRM, then many others probably did not either.
