Rockstar was forced to delay GTAIV six months after they begged Microsoft to let them require a harddrive like the PS3 has standard. They were clearly hoping that Microsoft would save them from the nightmare other developers were facing with a smaller than last gen storage format(7 gigs vs 8.5) and no standard harddrive. Microsoft refused and Rockstar was forced to delay the game for everyone due to the junk 360 hardware.
At least it is confirmed from Rockstar execs that the PS3 ...
My god what a disaster.
Repeated textures everywhere. Absurdly low poly counts for the objects, characters, and environments.
You have to have nothing but sympathy for the Rockstar developers who have been struggling to fit a city sized game into a smaller than last gen disc format on the 360.
PS1: 700 megs
PS2: 8.5 gigs per disc
Xbox: 8.5 gigs per disc
About 10x jump in storage for the generation
PS3: 50 gigs per di...
"push goddammn SOE to get Home out cause they're pissing us off with all the delays"
There has been exactly one schedule slip for Home.
Late 2007 -> Spring 2008
"ur joking right...? "
'alright'???
The greatest fighting game of last gen...alright?
LOL!
No God Hand.
Fail.
There is no gloating. That is just stupid kotaku sour grapes fanboy spin.
"Consumers are recognizing the tremendous value of PS3 and we believe that Blu-ray becoming the high-def format of choice was the tipping point for many consumers. With monster titles like Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and Grand Theft Auto IV launching in April and Metal Gear Solid 4 in June, we're demonstrating this is the year for PS3," said Tretton.
The only thing this clown is good at is self promotion.
He was considered a joke by game engineers years ago. These days no one even mentions his name.
He turned from 'has been' to 'sad relic' when he publicly cried about not being able to handle modern console graphics hardware a couple years ago.
What a disaster. This is what happens when you are forced to gimp a game down to only 7gigs - 1.5gigs less than last gen with the PS2 ans Xbox.
How badly the 7gig 360 disc format has gimped the gameplay is the big question now.
"Microsoft's online service is among one of the best"
You have to be joking...right?
50 dollars a year just for the privilege to play games online? You end up wasting 200-300 dollars on top of the price of the console just to be allowed by Microsoft to play online games over the life of the console.
Ok, so Microsoft reams you on online charges. At least that money goes to supporting the online infrastructure...right?
Nope. Crappy P...
Good article, although a few of the points aren't really true:
"Home isn’t MySpace"
Home isn't MySpace, but Home has aspects that are very similar to MySpace or other social networks. Spaces in Home are very much a 3D equivalent to web pages. And the Personal Space in Home is quite similar to a MySpace page. Both are decked out in you personal images and music and serve as a place to gather with your friends.
"Home isn’t online multiplayer...
whoops
Here are the real NPD numbers for January:
PS3 = 260k
360 = 200k
Here are the made up vgchartz 'numbers' for January:
PS3 = 248,402
360 = 318,035
PS3 -12,000
360 +118,000
That's a 130,000 inflation for the 360's numbers just for one single month in just one of the three major territories.
You can go into the AdBlock directory and change the version check string to include the latest Firefox builds and it works fine.
I've been running nightly builds of 3 for a month now with AdBlock working perfectly.
"Can't sacrifice individual units"
Yes you can. Each Patapon can be individually removed. Just select the unit and hit Retire.
"Touchy combo system"
There is nothing 'touchy' about the combo system. You drum to the beat. Stay on beat and the combos keep going everytime.
"No multiplayer"
This crap needs to stop. This the tiresome "I need at least three negatives" boilerplate garbage.
...
Amazing PS3 sales that would have been higher if it wasn't for the shortages.
"This is by far the strongest line up ever."
Yes, 2008 is looking to top the PS2's 2001 for the greatest year ever for a console by a huge margin.
A huge number of the Playstation's big franchises.
A huge number of brand new big name games.
Most older 2006/2007 games getting new life with Home integration.
And an amazing number of smaller but incredibly high quality PSN games.
"I wonder how much 'touching up' will be done to this trailer. "
Most likely none other than colour balancing like all the rest of the Killzone 2 screen captures. When you have an engine that people were claiming wouldn't be possible until an entire new console generation you don't need to much 'touching up'.
Don't worry, Guerilla Games has no need for fake marketing shots like Epic does for every single Gears of War 'screenshot' ever released on the 360......
Definitely Motorstorm 2.
"new breed of warrior" was a phrase used for the original Motorstorm marketing and promo material.
