Not really. The naked eye can barely see beyond 1080p visuals so what is the point in improving the graphics?
Better graphics does not equal imagination and creativity.
New gameplay mechanics, story, music = imagination and creativity.
People don't seem to realize that Nintendo don't need to sell 100 million Wii U's to be success. They only sold over 20+ million gamecubes and they still made a profit. So even if only Nintendo fans bought a Wii U Nintendo would be fine. And like you said, Nintendo are already swimming with their billions in the bank.

It's not trashing its own console, it's showing the differences between the two. A lot of people think the Wii U is an add-on to the Wii. This charts explains to them that it's a different console entirely.
