While Scorpio is a powerful console it will be interesting to see how it stacks up in 18 months when it's released... 6TF GPU is already at this point not state of the art so while it will be much more capable than what any console has been the Scorpio may not be any better off at that point than our current consoles are now... We will get to find out in 18 months.
$50 per console max. Microsoft has buying power... $50 can get you pretty far when buying in bulk. All past consoles from Sony and Microsoft were sold at a loss to keep the hardware specs descent and price point low.. this generation the consoles were sold at a slight profit resulting in sub-par hardware... the hardware in both consoles truly sucks ... it sucked the day it was built.
What Microsoft should do is ride this generation out with Xbox One for 2 more years or so and invest heavily in the next system... Place high end hardware in it and be prepared to take a loss per console to keep the price low. Keep their mouths shut about DRM and used games.
It's possible... I can find no information that their is contract between Hello games and Sony making it a permanent console exclusive. With that said I will assume it will depend on how popular and profitable the game becomes as to whether it will come to any other consoles.
Hate to break it to you xfiles but I also game on a PS4 and all I hear on there is 6 year olds screaming into the mic while playing games they shouldn't be on at that age or people playing music with their PS camera mic on so everyone is stuck hearing it and then cussing at you when you ask them to mute their mic... PSN aka PlayStation community is really classy.
Only if a large enough group if consumers choose to buy it and that remains to be seen. This is a gutsy move.
The increased specs are decent on paper but really aren't crap in real-world usage. The system will still not exceed 1080p in any graphically challenging games and 60 fps stable may even still prove to be challenging at times. It's just not enough of a jump in hardware to make a WOW! Stuff will run smoother and may have cleaner sharper lines but don't expect to see much else.
That is minimal... A real upgrade would be AMD FX 9590, 16 gig's GDDR 5 , R9 Fury X
I have a PS4 and it is not anywhere near as quiet or as cool as my Xbox One... The PS4 gets "loud" at times and it's always pretty warm to the touch and hot at the exhaust port.
The hardware of both consoles has been a let down... Both are severely under powered... they were obsolete before they even launched.
And the point of this "article" is what?... Are people supposed to care about the reasoning?!
So basically you guys have done nothing new and are reusing old crap... sounds about what I would expect from this game.

Some people are losing their minds over it for the wrong reasons but it does screw with one major advantage of a console. Consoles have static hardware across their life cycle and this allows and requires developers to learn the system.. it's strengths and weaknesses to make their games look and run the best possible way across that life cycle. At the end of cycle the games normally look there best and utilize the hardware to its fullest. If you change the s...

No... he's saying he would switch to PC because if he's going to be dumping endless money into something every few years he might as well get the advantages with it and I agree with him.
I will go back to PC... it can be a "good move" without me.
Sony should have discredited this by now... that fact alone means something is up.
Back to PC gaming if this happens.. no reason to stay on console. If I'm going to buy a money pit I might as well get all the advantages too.
To bad no one writes 16 bit code anymore to get the big gains... Almost all instruction sets are 64 bit now and they're not going backwards.
