Well, I have an xbox 360 elite and i've been using it almost daily since I got it in may 2008, not a problem yet :)
I am happy paying a relatively small sum of around £30 a year for a far superior gaming experience.
We all know Xbox Live is miles ahead of PSN, its true, I have both consoles and its clear.
I mean its like

anyone can make a free PSN user account and just use it to glitch all the time, but its rare you see an xbox live account doing it, why? because you can only play online with Gold, which you pay for and people arnt stupid enough to risk it.
