Well lol is considered to be a professional sport in the US, to be technically correct. Also, pro lol teams put in 15 hour days and require a huge amount of skill/stragety.
Currently in LCS NA, 1 team is considered world class atm (Cloud 9). That is 5 people out of 32 million players who are that good. Then you have teams in korea, southeast asia, china, Europe, and emerging areas like Australia and South America.
