I knew that movies had started catering to Chinese audiences but didn't really know games had been doing it for a while too. I wonder if it'll have a positive impact rather than a censoring one?
Really good article, anyway!
Wow, no mention of Touch My Katamari? That game is aces!
Can't argue with Golden Abyss making the list though, that's probably the first game I recommend to anyone buying a Vita.
The expansion packs are a bit of a weird one - if the idea is that people are meant to interact with one another, what happens if people on the rest of your friends list don't have the same expansions as you?
What happens if some expansions aren't that popular and there's no one to fight against in them?
Hm.
With every new thing I hear about Unity it seems like it's trying so hard to make me like it but for some reason I'm still sceptical?
Project Widow might change that though, looks bold.
I think this is really interesting and I wish more devs were doing what Riot is doing? Their zero tolerance policy seems to have worked out for them so far.
The squatting is bad enough but the fact that they're actively swindling people out of their hard-earned cash? Disgusting.
Apologies for that, it's been a big talking point with the game so I thought that it was likely that a lot of people knew about it.
Nonetheless, I've just added a spoiler warning to the article.
A lot of what makes the game is the interesting factor, I think.
For me it's worthy of a 9/10 because a lot of what Proteus does is unique, especially in the way that it makes you question the world and I don't really think any other games are doing that at the moment but each to their own!
I think Heavy Rain told a pretty good story?
Understandably, anything remotely interesting that happened in the game probably would be ludicrous in real life but the fact that it didn't detract away from the key plot or make for a bad game says a lot.
At the centre of Heavy Rain is a story about a man who just wants to redeem himself and save his son, which spells out 'a good story' to me.
It's a big deal for multiple reasons - one of these reasons being the fact that we rarely see female leads, and even when we do, she's portrayed in an incredibly unhealthy or demeaning way.
We live in an extremely sexist society, everything from slut-shaming to lack of equal pay and everything else that hinders a woman's ability to thrive and prosper in today's world are serious issues, so for just one game to put a woman on the same footing as they would a ma...
That's not implying anything about male gamers, what it's actually stating is that the conversation about women in games seems to be solely focused on the female character's cup size rather than her quality as a protagonist.
It's not necessarily male gamers who make that so, it's usually the general games media, either way, that sort of conversation really sucks and makes everyone look bad.
No, that's no what I meant at all.
What that headline means is that it's good for gamers as a whole (including men AND women) as opposed to *just* women.
They really do, it's unbelievable. I think they can coexist in the same market though, based on the serious plot and base material differences, don't you?
What makes you say that?
Yeah, that's exactly what I was trying to put across when I wrote the article.
Even in character creation modes where you get to make 'good v evil' choices, a lot of devs still put limitations on you - I'll use Bethesda as an example, yes you can make all of these choices, but you make too many bad choices and you automatically get tarnished with a lick of paint from the evil brush with no hope of redemption - BioWare, on the other hand, allow that grey area t...
Sure, I love all of those characters, they've all made a serious impact in the way that I think about games but none of them are really out there, Drake and Batman are perhaps the ones who test the generic badass man stereotypical lead but even so, they're still 3/4s what we've seen before (albeit with some impressive script-writing to back them up).
Part of my opinion of Commander Shepard comes from the characters capabilities - of course Shepard's actions are down to our input but for me it's about what Shepard is able to do - BioWare haven't put very many limitations on what Shepard can do, but at the same time, there are some very murky grey areas that for me, make Shepard multi-faceted, even if I am the one pushing all of the buttons.
I think you'd be mad not to have fallen for her!
That's why I chose it :)
Obivously all of Uncharted 3 is brilliant but the scripting of that scene with Elena at the airport is *spot on*!
In all fairness, it's alpha gameplay. I reckon it has potential with a good bit of polishing, no?
