Yea, that's not at all how averages work.
People's tastes mightve changed in the past 16 years... What's your point?
Would you have preferred they delayed the whole game to apr7? Prefer they release a buggy/unfinished core game? Game production is extremely difficult-- choices have to be made on what to prioritize-- It'd be one thing to complain if it were a paid add-on, but they obviously made a choice to make sure the core game was 100% polished on release date and then finish polishing/debugging Mercenaries in the following weeks. There's no comparison to past releases-- every production is ...
Combat system is surprisingly innovative-- truly feels like Matthias addressed actual issues with classic jrpgs, such as the problem of having too many unused party members rotting on the bench. The tag-team system adds a huge amount of depth-- formation is super important. The sky armor battles also add good variety. Amazing game.
Irony = 100
Okay... How would a mentally healthy person describe a shitty work environment?
The "multiplayer/GaaS is the future, singleplayer is dead" thing is very reminiscent of 2013's "mobile games are the future, console/pc games are dead" and the 1950s' "tv is the future, movies are dead"--- They are branches that diverge from the classic medium's format, and maybe people who wouldn't have played singleplayer games are drawn to these new formats, but they are very much an offspring, not a replacement. They provide a very different...
Interesting trend where smaller outlets will release an outlier negative review of a game after its built up a positive aggregate. It makes sense if the goal is to get clicks--- if 50 reviews are an 8 or 9 out of 10, and then theres a 5 that comes along later, its successful clickbait. It wouldnt surprise me if this reviewer was assigned to write a negative review of Stray, regardless of his actual opinion.
Oh wow, didnt realize there were still people who bitch about things being "woke"... What does that mean to you nowadays? More black people? Less cleavage? Are these really major concerns of yours?
a little late for the NFT train.
Disagree with what? Lol wtf kind of a comment is that?
We should be calling "game over" on moronically oversimplified questions as article headlines.
I understand if you are planning on eventually selling it, or if you want to buy it used, but aside from the economics, why is it better to have to swap discs every time you want to play a different game? That seems like an enormous drawback to physical games, and a much bigger drawback than "not having a physical thing for my shelf"... In fact, I'd argue that the ability to quickly switch between games without dealing with discs to be an advantage worth a few extra bucks.
In-game design decisions that are driven by microtransactions will always be worse than those made purely for the quality of the experience. Its disappointing that MS would allow their most storied franchise to swirl down the F2P rabbithole. It still might end up being a good game, but it will, by definition, be inferior than it wouldve been had they totally excluded microtransactions. Im glad I dont really care about Halo, and Im sorry to those of you Halo superfans whose sanctity and tru...
This math is heavily flawed. He made this determination based on how many players didnt have the Phalanx trophy, but Id bet many if not most of these players stopped way before even getting to Phalanx. Most people stop the first time they realize theyve lost a bunch of progress, or the first time they die before retrieving their lost souls (which, at that early point, seems like a lot of souls even if its only a couple thousand)--- i.e. just before unlocking shortcuts. Once that Phalanx s...
The problem with this article's argument is that it assumes "perfect" means "perfect for everyone"... The reviewer is only one person, and if person X felt game Y was one of the best games X has ever played, then a 10 is totally reasonable. Nobody who's truly researching reviews to decide whether or not to buy a game should rely on one single reviewer. This is actually what Metacritic IS good for-- not for the "average score" but for a bunch of reviews ...
Maybe if you're rating it as purely a FPS, ok... But the uniqueness of Deathloop is in the story and the timeloop mechanics, and the way things unfold that gradually deepen your understanding of the world from not only a story perspective, but also a gameplay perspective. This game could easily be a text-based RPG and still be super interesting, making different choices of where to go and what to do each loop until you finally solve the full puzzle and complete your understanding of the ...
You're right except now you're lumping in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 with P5 and FF7r.
This article is a mess-- and the word "lonely" is misinterpreted and miscontextualized here... "Solitary" or "introverted" might work better--- Immersive singleplayer games like Kojima's are like taking an extended camping trip in the woods by yourself-- the solitude is striking, and gives you so much more mental space to connect with your surroundings-- Its for people who love and desire solitude.
I might characterize more social/co-op...
MS just ruining gaming, IP by IP. Goddamn, they better never buy another good studio. Terrible.
