Backwards compatibility isn't important to me because I Still have my X1, Ps4, 360, Ps2, Ps1 and NES in my room. Why have backwards compatibility if you still have the systems?
I have both and I still prefer Xbox One. PlayStation 4 is a Ps3 with a new UI, more ram and better graphics. They didn't try to do anything innovative. No risks and no balls.

Destiny is going to be amazing, even on the 360 and PS3 I believe. I think it'll be Bungie's best. I loved the Halo series, but Halo 4 wasn't quite the same.
The whole reason Sony developed Killzone was to compete with Halo. I have Shadow Fall and, while the game is beautiful, the AI is as dumb as a rock.

I always supported Xbox more, but I'm purchasing both consoles this time around and I must say that either I got lucky or the problem with the PS4 is small. I played AC 4 on it for about 2 hours, then right after my girlfriend played it for about 4 hours. I got mine from Amazon on launch day and, coming from an Xbox fan, it's a very well made system. I hope the number of people who experience this is limited and I hope it doesn't happen to my Xbox One next week.
I'm more of an Xbox fan, but come on, millions of units are being shipped. If 100 are faulty at launch, that's not bad. Things like this are to be expected. Same thing will happen next week with X1, I really don't think it's anything to fret over. Now, if by 6 a.m. tomorrow there are thousands of bricked consoles, that's scary. I say as long as it's between 1-1.5%, it's fairly isolated.
Xbox games are giving a week too. I got a week with CoD ghosts. What does that have to do with the controller? You don't even get an extra charge cable with the dual shock 4. At least Microsoft gives you two batteries.

Basing game completion on achievements is absurd simply because if the player used a single cheat code during gameplay, they gain no achievements.
