Check in the controllers settings if it was discovered as "Wireless Controller" or as "Xbox 360 controller", because the "Wireless Controller" doesn't support xinput and needs software like DS4windows to emulate the Xbox 360 controller so it can work with most games without issues.
My old adapter stopped working so I bought a new one with Bluteooth version 2.1 + EDR and it works fine with DS4.
