Sony was trying to push the cell to become mainstream the same way they did with blu ray. After all MS was pushing hd DVD and failed, had they succeeded we probably wouldn't have blu ray now.

Essentials is weak as fk and plus is mediocre at best. There is barely a handful of games worth playing on essentials , nothing that has enticed me to subscribe.

3.6 million units sold in 2 years is not going to inspire any dev/pub to develop AAA games, it's just not profitable. That's exactly the reason why developers are still hanging onto last gen consoles.
