Well, since there is no such thing as a "Universally loved" game as there are always people who dislike a game it's impossible to answer. But I'll play along.
I would not go so far as to say I hate it. But I didn't much care for the characters from Final Fantasy 13. Saying something as cliche as COD is redundant as everyone seems to hate it now(I no longer care for it) yet the sales show otherwise.

Since Mr. Article asked me what my perfect video game mate is, I will tell you. Mine would, in a heartbeat, be Eva from MGS 3: Snake Eater. Not only for the obvious reasons to anyone who's played the game.
But, also because I have a sneaky(get it?) suspicion that since Kojima puts a lot of references to films in his games that Eva(who claims her name is tatiana) might have been influenced by Tatiana Romanova(spelling) from "From Russia With Love".
