Well no shit it is their most ambitious game ever. So is every game coming compared to SNES games. They could smear shit into a case and ship it and it would be better then anything they have done in 10 years.

On ps3, we would have drinking parties and play this game, years ago was a blast. Have seen nothing but good about this. However, it is a ps+ game, so I know just me alone have 4 friends and myself who have downloaded it, yet not played it. I have said this for a loooong freaking time. People spewing out games are missing the point. MS came hard on launch with 360 as well, but how many of the games you all just named are 1st or 2nd party games? In a year or two MS for the 3rd consecutive generation will only support gamers for half the console cycle. They have no studios and lastly the few they have are making their signature franchises (most of which arent even the original developers).

Yeh, it is not what was in game, the UC1 Elena actually had a more plastic look, as did all the characters. Still looked good, but the jump from 1 to 2 was absurd. As is the jump from 3 to 4, in more ways then just graphics. Their animation system makes every other game look pathetic.
This picture of UC3 Elena isnt even that bad compared to some in game angles. UC3 Elena is actually the worst modeled in my opinion, and sometimes flat out doesnt even look like it is her.

Sony lost a lot of ground early. Bad price point, Cheap controller, and bad designs were a part of it. Lol hence why they went back to the classic PS logo, thank god, that spiderman font was hideous. They also got out marketed hard. Those early commercials scared people haha.

I would love to say more diversity in their library, and a much larger 1st party stable backing them. But I think the primary reason is marketing. Lol, not sure why they get so much hate over it though, the Xbox has rode nothing but this strategy. For what will be 3 generations now they will run the Gears, Halo, Forza market the hell out of a small number of games strategy.

Microsoft has some awesome 1st party support right now, kudos to them. They are making the right moves. Some new ip too even more awesome. Will be eager to see if they keep it up throughout the cycle as they most certainly did not last two generations.
