A blog post is, by definition, a piece of writing based on the opinion of the author. That's very different to a news article which are supposed to state hard facts. If I added "in my opinion" to everything I said the piece would end up being 1000 words longer, much like if you did it in your very opinionated post. Don't take it so personally.
Everyone has their own opinions. You're entitled to yours. But c'mon, lighten up!
I was introduced to the Final Fantasy series by FFVII but wouldn't consider myself a casual gamer because of that. There were plenty of other great RPG titles to indulge in before the FF series saw the light of day in Europe. Shadowrun, Secret of Mana, Terranigma, Earthbound to name a few.
After playing (and loving more than anything else I'd ever played) FFVII through, I got my Snes9x on and played through, and loved IV, V and VI before VIII came out and still didn't like IX ...
What about FFXII!?
FFIX was a real marmite of a game for FF fans I think. I wasn't convinced when I played it through the first time but second time round I had a lot more fun with it.
@spoonyredmage Haha, no it doesn't make you look bad! Personally, I'd like to see tri-Ace have a return to form so I'm hoping it will be good. I was surprised when I was researching this the reasons they cited for ditching Square Enix though. Fear maybe? I wouldn't have thought Square Enix have much room in their release schedule for Resonance of Fate with FFXIII on the way.
Anyway, thanks for the suggestions guys, I'd say at least two of the above will make it on there. I'm givi...
Monster Hunter Tri could make me want to reclaim my wii from my Nan. She won't be happy though, she loves the bowling...
@spoonyredmage
I'm going to be missing so many good games off the list, 2010 is going to be a great year for RPGs by the look of it.
I had a go on Crystal Bearers at E3. It was only a twenty minute demo but it was really enjoyable.
I think the key to determining the game of the decade is to be massively subjective, which is easy for us as bloggers to do, but perhaps not so much for big gaming websites and magazines who have to cater to gamers of varying tastes.
I'll be doing a top 10 RPGs of the decade in the coming weeks and I plan to use a bit of stanislavskian method reviewing ;), or less pretentiously: remembering how a particular game made me feel at the time of playing and basing my list on that. Us...
Two of those are in my top five. I won't spoil it for you though ;)
Absolutely. It's big business in the MMO world and seriously harms in-game economies. It's great that the UK police are starting to take this seriously because while it may not seem like a big deal, it is tantamout to fraud. If they can steal accounts then they would have access to other personal information I guess. It's about nipping it in the bud before they move on to more serious identity theft crimes.
But yeah @HolyOrangeCows, the dude really should get a life!
I absolutely agree with you. I'm not holding my breath either and the whole debacle is becoming embarrassing!
