they wont use HAL effect sticks as they make too money selling controllers that they know will break sooner than later...
taking (stealing) peoples money for a product that is not fit for purpose is also unacceptable.... about time this practice by developers and companies was nipped in the bud and stamped out completely...

there is always a risk of bricking a device, even with legit update or software mod from the original manufacturer...

if player is willing to cheat in another game, whats to say they wont cheat in their game... theyre just getting rid of them before they potentially start...
you still have to select "check for update", but at least its better than having to hit play to see if theres an update...
no doubt they will claim nobody has lost any money from it...
much better for people to setup their own classes with equipment and loadouts... let players mix em up...
