Indeed, MGS4 is a modern day masterpiece. I too fail to see irony.
Its not just great on a graphical level or just great on a gameplay level. Its Story spans many games and is told very well. Critically acclaimed it not only sold itself but many ps3's via bundles. MGO is very fun too despite a couple issues.

Reads at a constant speed of 8MBps anywhere on the disc
Xbox 360 has 12x DVD: 66 - 132Mbps / 8.2 - 16.5MBps
Reads faster on the outside of the disc and slower on the inside. If a disc is full it will reach max speed.

I too will get both. The SP campaigns , and the MP are both unique in various ways though they both are AAA FPS. I don't feel saturated , Let it rain game.
The same could be said for MGS4/MGO and SOCOM Confrontation to some extent. Both have the MP TPS. They are coming out pretty close together too. I do not see any of these games cannibalizing the other games sales toooo much.
RRoD is not the only problem 360s had in the early days I had 2 that scratched discs. Ive told my story enough times yet it was upsetting the second time when the 3 year extended RRoD warranty did not cover faulty optical drives.
If my 3rd ever breaks down im likely to not buy another MS console until the 720 comes out and I will wait awhile to see if theres any issues.
