The gameplay core for Ni no Kuni & VC still turn based when you and the enemies alternately using every turns to defeat each other.
But Lvl 5 and Sega mixed some nice feature like moving around freely or a little SRPG element that it felt like a new breed of RPG's.
So i think it's normal if some people, like you, felt that Ni no Kuni and VC are not a part of turn-based RPG. But in the core they still is.
Who said they're gone? Ni no Kuni, Resonance of Fate, and Valkyria Chronicles are some of the best turn-based RPG on last gen.
And the success of FF X/X-2 HD, Persona 4: Golden, and Bravely Default even inspired western company like Ubisoft to make turn-based RPG.
I just watched it too. DIO gonna pay for this! :(
Anyway, i've played the demo and i think it's cool. One think i don't like is the control too simple for my taste. Maybe because i've played too much fighting games like Guilty Gear that need a lot of complex execution.
"out of the big ones only Atlus has provided decent support"
You forgot Tecmo-Koei. They gave vita a lot of support. From Dynasty Warriors, DoA 5, Ninja Gaiden, Atelier series, to Toukiden.
Also Namdai put some good support too. From God Eater 2, One Piece: Musou, J-Stars Victory, Tales of Innocence & Hearts R, to Gundam.

"but it gets nothing but ports, or simultaneous PS3 and PS4 released games. It needs it own software"
Can i ask you a question: you don't own a vita right? Because vita already had it own games such as Gravity Rush, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, KZ: Mercenary, Tearaway, YS Celceta, Soul Sacrifice, Over My Dead Body 2, or Freedom Wars that you can't play on any platform except Vita.
And the real -not the haters / pretenders- vita owners already ga...
- Gravity Rush (sandbox + RPG + action/adventure)
- Persona 4: Golden (JRPG)
- YS: Memory of Celceta (JRPG)
- Dragon's Crown (if you love classic like Golden Axe)
- Dangan Ronpa (if you love visual novel with puzzles)
- Soul Sacrifice (if you love hunting genre)
- Toukiden (if you love hunting genre)

- Tearaway (very unique game from Media Mollecule)

"But that awkward moment when Namco didn't localize the DS game which was a successful platform by a miles ahead but localize the Vita version."
Tales of Destiny director's cut, Tales of Destiny 2, and Tales of Rebirth released for PS2, the most successfull console in this universe, miles ahead than GC and Wii. But Namdai doesn't localize those title. So please, take off your nintendo fanboy glasses for a while will you?

@protagonist
Hopefully we will get the release date on E3.
@wearelegion
Gravity Rush on PS4 would be cool. But i prefer it stay exclusive for vita. Some mechanic only work with vita and vita needs unique 1st party exclusive like Gravity Rush.
@stevehypen
I already bought dragon's crown for PS3 because of the artbook. But some of my friends play it on vita, so maybe i will buy it too...
I ...
Freedom Wars, SS Delta, and Oreshika 2 are exclusive to vita
I don't think this will be gamestop exclusive. Namdai doesn't want to limit their audience, especially when it comes to one of their major titles.
This year i already bought FF X, Deception 4, and Muramasa Rebirth CE. Next i'm gonna get Dangan Ronpa 1 & 2, Akiba's Trip, Toukiden, Tearaway, One Piece: Unlimited World, XBlaze, Walking Dead season 2 (i bought the 1st season for vita and me & my bro are loving it), Wolf Among Us, Mind Zero, Legend of Heroes: TitS 2nd chapter, and this three games.
I wonder if Gravity Rush 2 will be out on this year too. But damn, too many vita games! I can't believe tha...
Already predicted this miles away. It's a sony 1st party games, a high profile too with an appeal for both western and japanese gamers. Of course they will localize it, even though vita not doing so hot in US/EU. Also history shows sony always localized the majority of their 1st party game.
But some people feared that sony already abandon vita, which in fact that's not true. Oh well, gonna get this babies day 1...when my wallet is ready :D
It already had a lot of games and more will come.
Replaying Wild Arms 2 & XF right now ;)
If sony want's to revive Wild Arms again, i hope they do it like Atlus did with Persona 3 & 4 and Namdai with Jojo's Bizzare: release a new manga / anime alongside the game.
Like i said 2 days ago on here, that sony really lucky to have key people like Shu

That's gaming journalism this day. The game just been announced a couple days ago. But instead on waiting for more info's, some people already on negative mode and acted like it will turn out as a dud. SMH -_-
Don't care what IGNorant said, i will get this game day 1!
But there's no David Buckley name in here

Maybe he just helping Hary Gregson or something...
Yeah i'm really interested with Soul Saga. Hopefully we get more info (release date?) or gameplay trailer on E3.
Also, i'm still waiting for gameplay trailer for Project Phoenix. Really hype with this title :D
