Except the 3DS is just a sub-iterartion like the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. Just like the PS4/PS4 Pro and Xbox One/Xbox One X are in the same ecosystems, the DS/DSi/2DS/2DS XL/3DS/3DS XL are all presently for sale in the same ecosystem.
The stats seem to indicate that an awful lot of people are upgrading.
The 10 series nVidia cards have only been on the market for one and a half years and the steam survey says that about 30% of steam users have a 10 series card. Steam spy shows that there are now 280 million users on steam so that means that about 85 million pc gamers bought a 10 series card in the last year and a half.
And now the Titan V has just launched which is the first of the...
Actually, $600 in 2006 is $735 today when you plug it in to the inflation calculator. $400 in 3-4 years will be a massive handicap, you'll get that time period's equivalent of Wii hardware for that much money.

Benchmark after benchmark after benchmark shows the 1800x to be more comparable to an i5 in gaming. PC gamer's 15 game average slots the 1800x somewhere between an i5-6400 and an i5-7600k.
The 1800x is a great performer for workstation duties but gamers should still be buying intel.

I agree, and to even further reinforce your point, steam spy pegs the number of steam users at 230 million.
Really don't understand what Pachter is trying to say. The 360 launched for $300 and $400 in 2005. Using an inflation calculator, that's equivalent to $374.20 and $498.93.
The PS3 launched at $500 and $600 in 2006, that's $604.17 and $725.01 respectively. Heck, the PS4 had a price cut to $400 in 2007 but that's still $469.95 today.

Yeah, he can't justify buying the Switch based on one title, a launch title... that also had to be designed in such a way that it could also run on the Wiiu... yet still managed to be one of the most critically acclaimed titles of all time... and without taking into account any of the other games that came out at launch or any future games that will come out during the systems entire life.
But he can justify buying a ps4 pro for $400, $440 after tax, when it doesn...
So, which is it then overload? Are there no xbox exclusives because they are on PC or do PC Gamers generally ignore the Windows 10 store? Ahhh... the irony of you of all people posting a moving goal post gif...

"bring vr to console gamers without needing a $1200-1500 computer"
Did you mean $700?

Take pc gamers, split them into 2 groups, Desktop gamers and Laptop gamers, then take each of those two groups and split them into 4 categories then compare only two of those categories from one of those groups. Meanwhile, the overall numbers (light blue bar) shows a significant overall lead for Laptop PC gamers AND a tie for Desktop PC gamers.

Superdata doesn't have access to any of steam's sales data, you are looking at physical copy only for PC.
Actually, if you add up all the video cards that have greater that 2TF of processing power, you get about 25% (25.17%) and 25% of the 181 million steam users (steamspy) means you have about 45 million steam users that have more processing power than a PS4.
11.8% (about 21 million) have 3TF or greater.
$1800 in parts TODAY, scorpio doesn't launch until christmas 2017!
At the end of 2017, the i7-5820 probably won't even be available anymore. It is already a 2 year old processor, by that time there will be something both faster and cheaper. The best of AMD's FX line is comparable to an i5 at best and we are likely talking about a low tdp laptop processor not something from the desktop line, why would you even need something like a 5820 to top that?

This is literally how ridiculous uth11 sounds to me with his re-enactment if he was talking about console setup instead:
Try to open box... Damn, packing tape is so strong. Spend the next 5-10 minutes looking for a knife.
Ugh why doesn't the hdmi cable reach across the room? Now I have to rearrange my whole living room so my console is near my TV.
Grrr, why doesn't the phone line fit in the network receptacle? Maybe with some e...

By that same logic the RX480 doesn't exist at any price. You can't say "Theres no $600 dollar version available right now." then go on to compare a $700 version of the 1080 with the 480 because by your logic, there's no 480 right now.
And everyone knows performance comes at a price premium. The GTX 1050 or 1060 will likely be the real competitor to the 480 and how will it compare in price. How will AMD's performance products...
nVidia haven't enabled thread level granularity and pixel level preemption in their drivers yet so the pascal cards should actually be performing worse than maxwell cards with respect to Asyncronous Compute. The fact that the 1080 is outperforming the fury x in dx12 tests with it's asynchronous compute solution essentially disabled is really quite telling. We should be expecting some significant performance improvements then as the drivers mature and advanced features are enabled.

4G LTE became available to install in 2009. At&t didn't start installing towers until 2011. Now look at At&t's 4G LTE coverage in the US 7 years after their first tower (red dots are LTE towers). 9 years after 4G LTE launch, still pathetic coverage.
