It will not be "the future of gaming", just a diferent way to play. An option.
MS did the same as Nintendo, desynchronized the launch of its console with the launch of the PlayStation. When Sony launches the PS5 in two years MS will have good installed base of XBX. MS will only launch a new console in 4 years.
I'm going to confess, I was worried that MS would show several interesting exclusive ones that I would never play. But no, it just showed an upgraded XB.

Probably, but there's a catch. If in a match there is a XB or Switch user Sony will not allow PS users to participate. Soon, PS users will have difficulty playing with PC users. At least randomly.
