The truth is the PS3 is making EA a buttload of money mainly because it's growing fast and bluerays are much more expensive than a dvd-9.
So why would they not want to make this game in to a huge cash cow?
Sony have stated that they don't pay for 3rd party games so this is EA rubbing Sonys back while so EA can get it's back rubbed in return.
I bet 50 miljon that Sony dosn't even want this game on it's PS3 mainly because EA and valve suck ass on developi...

It's the online play that we want so let those who want the extra download speed and cross invite, cross voice chat and so on pay for it and let those that just want to use the multiplayer option in the games they pay 50-60$ for, do that. If they would care about gamers they would take away the price tag of live or atleast let silver members play online while gold got some special treats like beta testing and free stuff of the marketplace.

Heavy rain is a game developed by a 1st party game company to Sony and PS3 called Quantic Dreams. You should care, because whats the fun in playing online if no one else owns your console? The fun in multiplayer is that there actually are multiple players around the globe with the same game and console to compete with.

Sony's press conference was funny "almost" the entire way thru with the boston guy doing some jokes and sackboy showing us the new stuff. The Ps2 and psp jabber sunk the funOmeter.
