This whole quote has been taken COMPLETELY out of context.
I was at the seminar he gave yesterday and what they've omitted from this article is probably the main crux of his talk.
Peter Molyneux made a very succinct case against demos. Not because he doesn't want people to play demos to gauge how they like the game or to try and stop you from seeing how bad some games are. He was talking from a developers view at a conference FOR DEVELOPERS.

Unless people stop buying XBOX 360, and they aren't doing; the sales are steady then it's going to take the PS3 alot longer to catch up than some of you have convinced yourselves it will take.
When did that happen? The last I checked, (which was about 10 minutes ago), Super Smash Bros Brawl had sold more than any game on PS3 has and it's not even been released in all of Nintendos markets yet.
Super Smash Bros has hit 5.5 million copies sold.
Super Mario Galaxy is pushing 7 million in sales.
Zelda: Twighlight Princess is just under 5 million units in sales.
Please, get your facts straight. And seriously, stop living in a dream world.
And since Cell isn't a graphics processor but a number cruncher, you've just made yourself look like an idiot.
The idea is Cell can take the load off the RSX by performing calculations the GPU would normally do thereby leaving it free to do other things. The reality of the situation though is drastically different from the concept on paper since taking the load of the GPU then reduces performance elsewhere; catch 22.
Bear in mind that Frames Per Second is NOT just a ...
Yeh it's simple. And it's the truth.
Arguing that the world economy is different now so, therefore, PS3 games don't sell as much is retarded when you're quite happy to quote that PS3 outsells 360 every month. Similarly, if the global recession were a factor you'd see a similar slump in 360 games sales and you don't. By your logic I could argue that 360 will sell more than PS3 again once the recession has passed. Not happening. Those sales figures aren't going to change and at th...
DJ, Give me an ounce of whatever you are smoking.
XBOX 360 - Total Sales to Date: 19.54 Million Units
PS3 - Total Sales to Date: 13.84 Million Units.
More or less 6 Million; at the rate they are selling now and provided sales of the 360 decrease, which they aren't doing, it'll take Sony 3 YEARS TO CATCH UP. This is all based on global sales.
Cold Hard Facts. Furthermore,
1) The Sales for Metal Gear Solid 4 until the 28th June is 2.1 M...
It's a myth that they weren't allowed to do damage to the cars in Gran Turismo. An absolute flat out lie. They couldn't do it at the time on PS1 because there wasn't enough power under the hood to make it do deformations; all of it was used to drive the simulation and it was a f**ing excellent simulation at that. By the time they got to hardware that COULD do deformations it just never got put in there.
There were/are plenty of other games that came out with Ferrari's and Porche...
Look you plainly don't know ANYTHING about the RSX at all to say that it has more power than the 360's GPU. It plain doesn't. On paper the two GPU's are barely different but the implementation of certain graphic routines and FX just eat away at the RSX severely limiting it's fill rate capacity; an issue EA publicly announced BEFORE the console was even released. Luckily it has access to the CELL but even then that's not really helping given the immense technical challenges of making it run...
Seriously. If I hear one more stupid remark about sales figures I'll go mental. Want to hear something about Sales?
Overall, PS3 is STILL 6 Million units behind the install base of the XBOX 360 and if they continue to ONLY outsell 360 by their current margins they'll never actually catch up. I think its 10k units a month between them now.
Furthermore, in terms of Software sales, the 360 trounces the PS3. Firstly let's look at the multi-platform games:
C...
"It all depends on how you allocate memory to your game's program. You can allocate system memory to video processing if the need arises since the system memory is not specific to any component of the console (just generally used for the Cell). Due to the completely different architecture of the Cell and the RSX in this machine, the separate RAM pools actually optimize the overall performance of the machine, unlike normal PCs where you can just stack RAM to fix memory issues. Again this ...
Copying and Pasting. Doesn't matter though because Konami, like Capcom and the other powerhouses of Japanese Software Development are also given the tools they need in exchange for cash and exclusive licences.
You're living in la-la land if you think for one minute that every software house on the planets starts a game from scratch; a blank page in a compiler.
Ready made tools are essential to develop on any platform, be it PC, 360, PS3 or hell a gameboy. They ar...
They are first party titles are they not?
Hmmm..Thanks for making my point about the importance of development tools.
Sony have ALWAYS given their 1st party people the best libraries and tools first. Of course they do, but when your system is being criticised for not having a plethora of great games, you'd think you'd be giving those tools to everyone.
And I've never said it's impossible to make games on PS3 i simply said it's rediculously hard. Se...
It's not a case of finding a new way to develop games. For the most part its a case of having the right tools to do the job.
Sony aren't giving the right tools away.
Look at it like this. It's like trying to tighten a Torx screw with a posi. If you persevere you'll get it in, but it'll be a bit to get going.
And I only meant to put Killzone in there, i was thinking of Resistance 2 because so many people talk about it like the second coming.
I'm sorry to break this to you but the PS3 is absolutely full of flaws. Ranting and raving at people who are posting genuine criticism of the PS3 does not change the fact that PS3 isn't as good as the system promised by Ken Kutaragi when they announced it. As someone who knows the PS3 hardware pretty well let me spell it out for you.
On paper, the PS3 wipes the floor with the Xbox 360. The Cell can do some impressive things when utilised properly. However, the cell is an absol...
For the simple reason you can only buy a limited no. of MS Points. Not sure of the exact figure, think its $100. Definitely not really available for purchase.
