If they bring back the Tomb Raider franchise, they have to find a way to put it up against all these big-budget comic films - which means that Tomb Raider would have to bring its a-game.

No way producers would back Kardashian in the role.

There is absolutely no way this is true. Zero.

Let's move on.

I can understand how some games don't need story - and can simply rely on fun gameplay ('Splosion Man, etc).

But as game presentation becomes more involved - title such as Uncharted 2, BioShock, and Mass Effect show how much a great story can add to an already solid gaming experience.

Not every game needs a great story but a lot of gamers expect one - and I don't think it's an unfair expectation to have.

Home is a different experience for everyone (depending on how much you use it or what you like about it). That's what keeps me coming back - the possibilities.

It's always so strange that some players (even people who like Sony) are so negative about Home. Sure it's not everything it could be and might not appeal to everyone's taste in games/apps but since when did every single gamer in the world ever agree on the quality of a single game?

The article is definitely overly dramatic.

It's strange that everyone is so concerned with the first 3 years of PS3 considering the life of the PS2 - (where the Xbox dropped out shortly after the 360 came along). Sony has plenty of time to make the PS3 profitable.

Exactly.

It's a stretch for sure to be applying the fanboy war onto Sony's general operations. They've been making quality electronic hardware for close to fifty years.

Sure, in the current generation of consoles they were a bit slow out the gate but Sony isn't a company most people would associate with expectations of "fail."

As far as the topic at hand, I don't see 3D tech selling a lot of NEW televisions, maybe up-selling at retail. We're all riding the Avatar wa...

I've yet to see any demos that actually made me excited about gaming with Natal.

The tech is really impressive but the application seems a bit cloudy still...

Home continues to be an interesting experience for the users who enjoy it and people who don't use home really should give it a chance - the new Sodium space is a great evolution of what is possible.

It'll be nice to have something to besides the blog to keep users informed on what is going on.

Though, there are still tons of opportunities for wider appeal.

Why now? I'm not sure this article ads anything to a discussion gamers have been having for over a year - besides pointing out the obvious. I'm sure we've all thought they were similar at one point or another.

As has been previously mentioned, the 9 short-film wasn't the first time anyone ever saw a canvas doll with a zipper running down the front either. I'm sure Shane Acker has heard of the comparisons and if Sony/Media Molecule had ripped off Acker's design, then sold million...

Although I disagree with a few others, Avatar is by far the worst cover art on here.

Really? Again? Especially considering the speech the video gives about how close Uncharted 2 came...

Uncharted 2 was a much better game all around (and had a great multiplayer as well) - even if gamers end up playing Modern Warfare 2 more in the long run...

Among Thieves "gathering dust"? Really? Uncharted 2 has a great multiplayer component.

@ Bungie

That's the problem with Modern Warfare 2. I enjoy playing it, but a game of the year should be more than just a great multiplayer experience. The campaign has good moments and spec-ops is great but overall, I don't see it "Breaking the Mold" or showing us something that hasn't been done before.

No one said 4G wasn't coming next year.

What I was trying to say is: with 4G only being talked about appearing next year, I'd be surprised if Apple put out a new device, with new cell tech, on an untested newly implemented network. If it didn't work as planned Apple would look bad - and they've learned that lesson through a number of problems on AT&T's end.

Ya - this all just sounds like speculation. The actual technical details don't add up in a definitive way.

I could see Apple opening up the phone to all carriers this year at WWDC - but never outright switching carriers or offering a better product on Verizon, etc. without making the same updates on the AT&T phones as well.

Though, Apple has always been very careful when it comes to their products - offering it up to several carriers opens up the possibility for ...

I'm willing to cut the guy some slack - I'm alright with the idea that he's not well-versed in video game lingo since he knows a lot more about things significantly more important.

Even still, it's not that he didn't know what an iPod Touch was - the kid said he wanted an Apple for Christmas. It was the kid that's got his Apple product facts confused.

People tend to forget, PlayStation Home is still in Beta.

Personally, I think you get out of Home what you put into it. There are loads of community events and ways of interacting with other gamers - if that's what you want to do. I don't find myself too interested in interacting with people not on my friends list - so I spend most of my time playing the mini-games, etc.

I think the new Sodium space is a huge step in the right direction for home.

Sure ...

The ESRB operates on the same basic guidelines as movie ratings - the problem is... most video games are targeted at the Teen and Young Adult market, which, enjoy action games that require a certain amount of violence.

I don't think it's so much that the ESRB are too conservative - rather game developers continue to push the envelope in terms of the amount of violence that's necessary in a game. Dante's Inferno just seems excessive to me. I've read a couple different translation...

@ cgoodno

I agree. I'd be a lot more convinced of the Xbox 360's staying power if the Reach trailer had given us any indication of play mechanics or the quality of in-game footage.

The only thing the Reach trailer really shows us is that Halo is still a buzzworthy franchise and Microsoft knows how to market their software.
