Interesting - do you feel that this means that there are certain kinds of stories which shared or splitscreen gameplay cannot tell?
Or do you think that these point-of-view features could be told a different way?
Perhaps this is a validation of plans to bring out TVs where each viewer in the room sees a different image?
Interesting piece. I'm still not convinced on Kinect's ability to deliver an adventure style game without a better approach to navigation and movement and to me it looks like the lightsaber fighting would really benefit from a prop - I wonder how much the game would be confused by introducing a toy lightsaber for reference?
The other game modes look interesting though. A good way to adapt the source material to the controller.
Yeah it's the same studio behind Wallance and Gromit! Looking forward to this loads!
Christians are on the internet now? Uh-oh, there's a bunch of stuff they're not going to want to see...
I'm kidding, of course :)
I really enjoyed this article, particularly from its focus on the character drama in Uncharted and it's great to see games being able to contribute to a wider debate.
An excellent point. So many games provide endless and pointless customisation options for an avatar while overlooking the most obvious choice.
Hopefully lots of people will use this feature and demonstrate the demand.
It will be interesting how much of the motion style experiences the WiiU sticks too, or whether it focuses on developing experiences just for the new controller.
You don't feel that as a core gamer you find yourself waiting for a long time between decent releases? Agreed there are some great "serious" games for the Wii as well as for casual gamers, but I would say that for a keen gamer the Wii does little to sustain interest.
I was a Wii owner after the PS2 first and foremost, but I ended up buying a PS3 after about a year because there simply wasn't enough to maintain my interest.
But what can they do with it, other than play what is provided in the box? Does the game offer any experience beyond what the producers create?
Either of you ever tried modding? I spent a great deal of time with the Lionhead community around the movie studio game "The Movies". Hugely active community modding the game and using it to make short films. Probably the most satisfying gaming period of my life.
Did you ever do any modding of the first game? If so, how did you find it?
Maybe. Perhaps a hangover from trying to downscale from PS2 and Wii?
Interesting. I've actually not tried any DS games on my 3DS yet but maybe I will give it a shot.
If the 3DS allows for improved performance over DS titles then they must be quite similar, code-wise. I might have to try Lego Batman on it as the framerate occasionally dropped off on that for me.
Some interesting thoughts. I like the idea of streetpass on the controller, although I've had limited success with the 3DS streetpass in the midlands.
I think if a controller has all of that functionality it would be good to see more transparent connections with the 3DS. Given the flexibility of control available to the 3DS it would be great if the handheld could be used as an optional controller and if more games could be designed to use both Wii and 3DS functionality if...
Sensible Golf on the Amiga sold very badly and was considered a commercial failure, I believe; but, I thought it was an excellent title.
Given the efforts that they appear to have put into the motion controls on the Wii version, how would this translate to the 3DS?
They could use accelerometer control to rotate "a la steel diver" but it would be very hard to actually make the swing work with the DS.
That's a very thorough look at the last five titles in the series as compared to the latest. I have to say that I'm occasionally addicted to golf games, although I prefer them on the arcade-y side (I loved Sensi Golf on the Amiga!). If I take the plunge again this will be really helpful!
it is a shame that the 3DS will be a poor experience for a spectator...
Am I right in thinking that it's one guy doing both the voices? If so, he's very convincing as two different people!
That would be a real shame if it proves to be the case. I can certainly see why the 3D effect doesn't work with the 3DS held at any other angle.
Would a book game still work with the 3D turned off, though? Without the 3D it appears to be a regular DS screen.
Having said that, book-style games have always been something of a niche on the DS. It seemed to be something which Nintendo encouraged early on to sell the image of the DS as a book alternative to an...
Great to see another new song from Rebecca! These are always beautiful and interesting responses to games outside the normal remit of "reviewing."
Bravo.
