Because he is a relevant person to the gaming industry like it or not investors take him very seriously. it is his job to tell them where to invest their money.

Not true I have been saying this and defending this idea for a while now. I will never buy an xbox one, I own a PC and love my PS4.
But I am all for this idea
Of course they will want to maximize profit.
Look at how much a hard drive was for the xbox 360 at first.
However if you get third party parts get Asus, Gigabyte, Razer etc the price will drop fast and I am excited to see how this pans out. At least it will be giving the consumers a choice of power.

Microsoft doe not have billions to spend on gaming studios.
Before you hit disagree Microsoft has share holders those shareholders want a return on investment and an easy return not a risky one.
They will not let the Xbox brand get Billions for new studios.
Just because the company as a whole is incredibly wealthy it does not mean they are going to put all of that on the Xbox that would be a terrible business decision.
I am sorry but my 2 year old rig runs the Division (beta) at high/ultra in some settings. It looks better than consoles and doesn't cost a fortune.
For two/three years I have not had to even worry about upgrading. My PC total cost would be $1300 NZD.

Not such a huge investment and I get to play RTS games it is a win win :)
I still get consoles and own one but this argument is always silly IMO.
What if they become infinite. A modular console that each year new modules are released maybe every two years that is easy for every consumer it keeps the box ahead of hardware trends and give it Windows 10 as the OS and it becomes the best platform for the mainstream.
I truly hope they are working on a modular Windows 10 set top box and brand it with the XBOX name that would not bother me at all.
It would make pc gaming more accessible than ever before and this is good for gamers.

I think a console is done for however I believe Microsoft will release a PC running Windows 10 under the xbox brand as a TV set top box
It has had one game lets not give Homefront too much of a leg up.
Plus these days Call of Duty offers a lot of Bang for your buck.

It literally has more than most AAA games these days.
