I was going to wait for Fermi, but couldn't wait and picked up a 5870 instead. Glad I did. Too hot, too much power draw, and not that much of a performance increase to warrant the higher sticker price.
Even overclocked 5870 to 950/1250 with a custom fan profile with MSI After Burner, and the highest temps I've seen so far are 66-70C load 34C idle. Fan is not very loud either.

Yeah, thats what I was thinking. That was actually a pretty lame "benchmark". No idea about the system setup, drivers used or anything. You know, test variables.
Dirt 2 DX11 4xMSAA performance with a single 5870 the fps averages around 60-70+ @ 1680x1050 and occasionally it dips to 45 in the parking lot. Other than that, smooth as silk.
I don't know where they got these numbers.

One thing I did notice though, is after my original DoW2 updated yesterday, the splash screen is now AMD? Must have dropped Nvidia which is great imo. I wonder if this game is more optimized for ATI cards? The shadows seem to look a little better now.
