Playing the single player is a good experience. The AI is just very good especially at changing it's tactics. Online well, thats good too but the interactive environments such as when the nuclear bomb is launched just adds to the impeccable experience. Killzone 2 offers a lot that other console shooters just aren't doing.

Most likely you couldn't play because you rented the game and well you're not on the top spot. Cryengine 3 is multiplatfrom and well there is no game confirmed for the consoles yet. The xbox 360 well is not a much better online experience. If it's your first then I would completely understand.
