I couldn't kill civilians randomly in GTA 4. It was just a little too realistic and the blood splatter...wow...it was kind of disturbing. I guess I am one of the few who felt that way.
Side-note : I also find the level of violence in Fallout 3 far too exaggerated. I can understand the reason why it will be banned in certain countries. If you think of it, it's just little more difficult to find the supposedly 'hardcore' type of game amidst the deluge of titles now available. You just have to look harder for those, but you know that some will stand out through heavy advertising and viral marketing.
