All multiplayer games are a service. People would stop playing if they weren't. Sadly gamers are more and more demanding. Look at mordhau por example. Polished, $30, no microtransactions. People are already asking where is the roadmap and when can they expect more content. Who's gonna pay for those updates? There's literally no way to spend money in game

BL2 had cosmetic microtransactions. you dont remember because you are a sheep. you prefer hating on a developer rather than thinking for 10 seconds and seeing whats really going on
They were already in BL2 exactly. So I don't know where the problem is. People LOVED that game. I didn't. But the vocal gaming community did. And that vocal gaming community it's like a mob that doesn't think and will ultimately destroy gaming as we know it.
They keep review bombing and harassing developers and the only thing they'll achieve is to take out the people that really care and leave the executives that only care about mobile

The same people that whine like a baby about this are the same people crying about the epic game store. So that means they weren't purchasing the game anyway. So they didn't lose any sale. Gamers with brains know that by no microtransactions they meant no premium currency and loot boxes.

Youre looking at those games with rose tinted glasses. Counter strike shipped with a few maps, 2 modes and no customization at all and it lasted 10 years on the top of the world.
