You can kill or not kill. You can dominate orcs and have them fight for you, or pass them by stealthily. The Nemesis system is the key to making the AI unique in each playthrough, and how players can tackle objectives. There is a fair amount of killing though for certain objectives and quests.
This game is definitely not easy. Best of luck to those of you taking the challenge this October.
