I still think Wind Waker and Far Cry are two games that really stand out graphically and are incredibly fun, even today. But my favourite game, and one I still play to this day, has to be Deus Ex 1 for PC

Well, the game sold poorly and while the lawsuit went on, neither EA or Activision could promote the game.
Hype can be word of mouth and other opinions too, not just advertising.
With Bayonetta, the fact that many people raved about it, and that reviewers praised it so unanimously created a huge buzz about the game in the days preceding its launch, with Famitsu of all magazines giving it a perfect score. That created an expectation and hype around the game - and judging from some opinions, they felt it didn't live up to the buzz and hype.
It worked didn't it? :P
It's an opinion piece at the end of the day, just like reviews are. The thing is, many people assume it's fact, and that's where the problems arise.
This game is bland as hell, had some decent ideas but dammit SouthPeak, the game feels like a last gen effort!
