from everything I've heard it would be a really good start. but to be honest I'd get New Leaf on the 3DS. It's funny because New Leaf is still selling like CRAZY in Japan..

I haven't actually played this game but now I really want to. They need a new AC on the Switch. I'm surprised they haven't announced one already.
Xenoblade sales blow the first two out of the water.
The lore is fantastic and what's really cool is that it even sorta connects to Xenosaga and Xenogears. The combat, if you understand the mechanics, is amazing. You are right that people are so used to dumbed down combat. Xenoblade 2 blows FFXV out of the water as well.

I actually do agree with this. Completely. But personally I do really enjoy the turn based combat in FFX, just IMO. Xenoblade 2 is much better though and the combat may be the best in any RPG, just in my opinion.
I see what you’re saying. But some have s level of strategy with moves and some are active like final fantasy iv, which is another amazing game.

why do you think that? for instance, Final Fantasy X is turn-based and can be VERY strategic. It's why it's one of my favorite games of all time.

I have the unpopular opinion that Xenosaga Episode III is the greatest turn-based RPG of all time. I do miss turn based, but the combat of this game fits it perfectly. I wouldn't count remasters, but FFX is one of the best RPGs of all time and I think the best FF game along with IV.
nah it's Pneuma. I love the harem though. Yeah, it kinda plays out like an anime but it works.
178 hours or so, did so many sidequests, this is such an amazing game. I actually enjoy it more than Zelda, which may sound crazy to some. It won't reach the sales of FF, but I think the Xenoblade series is superior to modern FF, like FF XV (which was still good but had some major flaws)
I sold New Leaf because of money problems years ago and have regretted it ever since..
