Edit - They did make Folklore, but even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile. They made the POS Clash of the Titans, too.

There's nothing wrong with a linear game, as long as it gives you the option to explore.
If you want to finish a game in 5 or so hours and not explore, good for you...but if you want to take your time and find everything and actually get your money's worth, even better.
