Maybe it was planned like that. They couldn't work on KI because they were working on a platformer. (We can only hope!)

Maybe those who didn't have to rush through it to review for launch actually had time to master the combat and enjoy the story for what it is. It's not a great game, but it's a good game with challenging combat and a very good story.
The last two chapter are pretty damn epic, IMO.

When I can command my soldiers to fire arrows, etc. instantly just using my voice rather than having to press and hold a button for 5 seconds, all the while still controlling my character, yes, I call that improving the gameplay greatly.
Then you're missing out. Playing through Ryse and DR3, voice commands actually improve the gameplay greatly.
